Hello! Just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else has applied to CNR's ABSN program for the Spring or Summer 2018 start!

Hello!!! I am also starting in the Spring at the New Rochelle campus!! Does anyone know or have any idea what the schedule will be like?

Hi @jjourdain!! Congrats on your acceptance!! We'll be classmates ^_^ I'm not sure what the specific weekly schedule is, but from what I've been told, we're pretty much in class or clinical everyday from 8-5ish (M-F). I got a copy of the breakdown of which classes we'll be taking each semester so I'll post that in the FB group later today. You can search for the group per my previous message above and I'll add you!

@alyssav :) I have a copy as well! I am struggling to find a way to pay for the program... So I am considering starting in the Summer instead :( even though I really want to start in the Spring. Any ideas on this?

Hi everyone! Congrats on getting accepted! I just received my acceptance today!

Was just wondering if any one knew the deal about starting for the Spring 2018? How long is the program? I just want to know what I'm getting into before I put down a deposit! Especially since they said the spots fill up fast so I'm basically rushing to figure out whether I should put a deposit down or not!!!

Finally submitted yesterday for the summer 2018 cohort! I hope I hear back soon, the wait is so nerve-wracking! For those who got accepted into the summer, when did you apply and hear back?

@jjourdain Nice! have you filed the FAFSA? It's a free application for federal student aid and you can potentially receive federal grants/scholarships or loans, though I know the latter isn't ideal. I heard it's rare to get scholarships for second degree students, but it doesn't hurt to try. Also try contacting CNR about scholarships and grants they have as well. I am probably taking out loans, but I see it as an investment into my education and career that I'm serious about so I know I'm going to make it back when I start working. Sallie Mae is a great student loan service that offers very low interest rates, if you're interested. Hope that helps!

@Katja101 Welcome!! and Congrats on your acceptance :) !! The program is 5 semesters long which translates to 18-months, based on what I was told. So January 2018 - August 2019.

@JP02927 Good luck!! Hope you get in!! :) Not sure about when summer applicants hear back, but it should be beneficial to you since you applied so early! Best of luck!

Hello guys, I've been accepted into the spring 2018 cohort. Glad someone made a page on here!

@schrisphonte Congrats!! Are you going to be accepting the offer?? I made a FB group for our cohort as well! It's called CNR Second Degree Nursing Spring 2018. Which campus will you be at?

So I heard back from Admissions and they told me that I had two outstanding prereqs: Statistics & General Psychology, being that I got a C in both courses and the requirement for CNR is at least a C+. I'm pretty disappointed because I didn't think they would MAKE me retake those courses and I was also confused on the requirements in the first place because the website isn't updated. I told them that I would retake those courses over the Winter & Spring so that they would proceed with reviewing my app. but now I'm not sure if I actually want to go through with that. As much as I like CNR because of its rates and it's close to home, that wouldn't be very time or cost efficient. I'm also looking into Downstate, UMass Amherst, and Utica. What would you guys suggest?

Never mind! I decided that I'm going to retake the classes.

@JP0927 Glad you were able to make a decision! My thought was going to be some schools will take their grade cutoff seriously just to make it easier to weed out people. It might help you in the long run to retake the classes anyway, but it's about how you want to prioritize (time/money vs school preference). Good luck though! I'm sure you'll do much better now :)

Thanks so much @alyssav! I agree and that's why I decided to since I will need the better grades later on anyway.
