ADN programs no recency req.?

Hi all!

Thank you in advance for reading this!

I am looking for ADN programs that don't have a lottery system or recency requirements on their pre-requisite courses, and it can be anywhere in the US.

Long story short (or still kind of long ), I started working on my associates in science in 2006, and finished in 2015 (was doing school super part-time while I worked full-time). I'm in Northern California where nursing programs are severely impacted (just like many other cities/states I'm sure!). I didn't get in to a program and continued with my career. My job made me miserable so I decided to go back to pursuing my passion of becoming a nurse. I attended a private, for-profit college to get my LVN and they closed last week (I know, I know. I never should've trusted them but I was optimistic and excited to start nursing in any capacity). Now I'm positive this is the career path for me, but it's back to the lottery system in California so I am looking at out of state options. It's a bit overwhelming to filter through community colleges and state schools looking for programs that don't have recency requirements hence me reaching out.

Good luck. I live in California and all the schools I've seen have recency requirements of anywhere between 5-7 years for the major 3 classes: Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology. Some will include Chemistry in there as well and others may even include Nutrition and/or Statistics!

Here's the thing though, even if they didn't have a recency it might not look great if you haven't taken the main classes recently. Just think: the majority of people applying probably have taken the classes recently. It might not look good on an application.

I would strongly suggest trying to retake them asap if you can

Yea, I completely understand! It's definitely going to look better if I have them recently. The schools near Sacramento don't have recency requirements because they're lotteries, so I'm going to at least give it a go. I did take A&P during my LVN program, but in order to qualify for debt forgiveness I have to essentially erase my transcript :'(

Riverside Community College has no recency requirement. Located in Southern California, and it is point-based, with a portion going to lottery seats.

Thank you!! I'm going to take Mergirlc's recommendation and start redoing my Pre-Reqs next month, but I'd also like to take a shot at some lotteries just in case! Thanks again!
