online nursing degrees

Published

Hi everyone,

I am an LPN looking to get my RN or BSN. My question is do online schools really work or am I better off going to get my degree on campus?

Welcome to allnurses! :balloons: You can find lots of useful info and support/encouragement here.

You may want to look at some of the threads in our Nurses Distance Learning Forum:

https://allnurses.com/forums/f125/

The general impression I've gotten from the reading I've done of some of the threads on this topic is that it depends on the individual -- some people do really well with (and prefer) an on-line/distance learning format, and other people are more comfortable with a more traditional classroom. (Not a v. helpful response, I know!)

Best wishes, and glad to have you here --

My only advice is to make very sure that your state's bon accepts the school you decide to attend. Best wishes!

It does depend on what type of learning you succeed best at. I like classroom learning, but I don't have the time to go back to school. I am getting my degree with EC College. I use the RUE study guides, which are ok. You can go at your own pace which is nice, but you have to be motivated to get the work done. You can also CLEP out of some of the General ED courses, which helps to lower some of the expense. I would be glad to give you more info. if you are interested in exploring this option. I did a lot of research before chosing this program.
