Hi everyone
I was just looking at starting my prereqs, and unless I am looking at it wrong, just one class (one semester/4 hours) of chemistry costs $1000! does that sound right?, seems really expensive!, I have a community college but its over an hour away, and it would eat up what I would save going there in gas.
Just wondering what other people paid per pre req, at that rate I will be spending $20 k on pre reqs alone!! I doubt whether I will be able to get financial assistance coz I have a bachelors already and some savings, but I am by no means rich.
Another question I had was, should I do another class at the same time as chem, or is it way hard!
thanks all

I have alot of pre-reqs done because I went to school, graduated and now am going back with only A&P and micro to take, but tution for ONE semester FULL TIME is 1200 at my school, so 1000 for one class is insane!

My community college was 20$/unit, so a chem semester class cost me 80$. The price has now gone up to 26$/unit. I love California community colleges!

You say one semester/4 hours so I am assuming you mean 4 credits. You need to know what the cost is per credit for any school you attend or ballpark idea. If not go online and find out and you can compare that way. The community college would be much cheaper, but you say a long drive so you will have to decide if you want to pay more money for the convenience. Some Community colleges charge in the 70's while others are close to 200 per credit. You will need to check the area where you live to find out if it is an accurate and fair price. My area has an LPN program that you don't need to take pre-reqs, but I think you need to have your CNA anyways this program costs more than the associate nursing program at the community college. Just do some searching but remember school is an investment that will pay back many times over.

$102 per credit hour over here, at least now after the latest price hikes. Sounds insanely high to me.
Is your 102/credit a community college? Milo2145 doesn't state what type of school only that it is not a community college so it may not be insanely high.

Where I am (CC) one semester of Chemistry would cost you $875. $520 for the class, and $355 for the books, if you bought them at the schools bookstore. We do have a $1554 cap on tuition though. Oh, and there is a $50 lab fee, so the total cost would be $925.
4 year university. BSN degree. When i first started it was 72/hr or something to that effect.

$250 per credit? or less if fees and so on are included in the $1,000 ... that is a pretty good for a four year school.

My summer class that I'm taking now is chemistry at a local community college (4credits). It cost me a total of 850 (including 100 for the book).
