1. We recently had a very tough patient loss. We are looking for any suggestions/ideas for unit support dealing with this very challenging time. We usually have a de-brief once a year, but that just occurred. Thanks for the advice.

    Do you have monthly staff meetings? Maybe you could do a mini-debrief at that time. If you have a social worker on your staff, perhaps s/he could prepare some sort of exercise in grief management.

    what about having a short memorial service, and since hospices do grief counseling for the community, asking a bereavement counselor to come and talk to the unit ?
