I am hearing that many people are taking BCLS and Infection Control Classes on line. Anyone have websites? I want to start tying up this stuff before the end of 2008. I am up for renewal May 2009, but I see that we can renew on line up to 4 months prior to our expiration date.
Thanks, cool nurses

Do you mean BLS (CPR) or ACLS? CPR may be online now, but ACLS is a CD to take the course on your computer. Most facilities require American Heart Asso. certifications. You will still need to get competencies done with a certified instructor and may have to pay for that. www.americanheart.org has the info you need.
BEWARE of companies that offer courses online that are "based on AHA guidelines". They are not approved by AHA and the certification may not be accepted by your employer as no competencies are done.

As a BLS and ACLS Instructor, I can tell you our facility doesn't accept an online course - you still have to demonstrate your hands-on skills. I'd check with your facility before trying to find a place...And, ClassicDame was right on the money about "buyer beware"! - alot of these places are rather deceitful!

acls can be done either online or via cd through an aha vendor (same content, just if you do it online, you don't have to wait for the cd to come in the mail). i recently recerted mine this way.
my understanding is that cpr is the same way, though i haven't experienced it yet.
in both situations, though, aha requires you to go in person somewhere to get checked off (as it should be). so it isn't purely online.
anyone know when they are going to do the same thing with pals?
