I've read a lot of threads here where students are asking for careplans and some are offering them...this is disappointing. I understand how it is to be a student and feel so lost and perhaps misguided, and everything would be so much better if we just had a careplan to look off right? No, I don't really think so...how else are you going to learn about the needs of a patient and understand how to look at a situation critically and apply what you know as a nurse?
I say this after seeking help with my careplan only days ago. It was my first maternal careplan and I felt soooo lost with it..normally I have no problem but all of a sudden I felt like I had no idea what was going on. I was on the verge of tears and a total nervous breakdown ...I doubted myself and my abilities...it felt like I really knew NOTHING at all, and then after a migraine and some coffee...it all just clicked. I knew what to do for her. Holy moly, I really *can* be a nurse!! Turns out it wasn't that different or difficult. Just need to do your research and apply the concepts, and voila ~ you have a careplan. :typing
So when you're doubting yourself and the situation feels so dire and hopeless...just take a few deep breaths and try to remember why you chose this career - remind yourself that this is what you want to do and nothing will stand in your way - this careplan can kiss your ass because you're going to get it done and do a good job too, dammit! Please don't rely on others to get you through this...otherwise what will happen when you're in practice and all of a sudden, you have to make decisions & know what to do without someone coaching you? TRUST ME, if you do this on your own, you will have so much confidence and know that you *got what it takes*.
DAYTONITE - I really appreciated your help. You were a great resource! fyi, my instructor (Ph.D., nurse practitioner) thought it was the best one she received - and asked for a copy to use for instruction with future students. I was on cloud nine after hearing that!!! You were a great help. Thank you so much, and please continue to be a help to others!!

I agree! Sometimes you need to take a break from it and then return and think some more. Research research research!! I've learned so much not just from the careplan itself but the information I've uncovered while researching!! And I love reading the responses from Daytonite, such great advice and helpful info :)
