I'm with you somewhat on this. I've been here since 2001 and the only time I ever had a signature line was when I paid for the privilege.  Ultimately I decided the perks of a paid membership weren't really worth the expense so I didn't renew.  I don't miss the loss of a signature line and I honestly have not a clue hoe many "likes" I had that were lost with the upgrade so I guess that doesn't much matter to me. It would be nice though if the veteran members could be recognized easily, maybe a badge of some kind?

BTW, thanks for the info.  Now I know why I can't find info on the signature line (or is this the case?  Just saw a signature for someone who isn't a "platinum" (paying) member?)  Hmm.  Better leave it alone.  There are already badges being bestowed but without any explanation for those who might be interested.  And how can one become verified when the verify account section in the site info says this is not up yet?  Some have it, others don't.  Like it always is.  You know, I refrained from asking more questions because I thought it would all come about in due time but it is irksome to see members benefitting when the rest of us commoners can't even get an explanation of what we are missing out on.  Enough for tonight.

I feel kinda sad because @Davey Do and I used to be "friends" on allnurses (and a couple other people too), and now we're not anymore... I'm kinda joking, kinda not. Following is the next best thing, I guess.

Also, my community standing is at 22%, and I don't understand how it got there, or what the reasoning is behind it. I'm an 'A' student, ya know...not used to these 22%'s! :D I had a decent percentage of likes before. I will look forward to reading the explanation behind the community standing @Joe V.

I do really enjoy the tagging feature. Now Davey Do will know when we're talking about him! 😉 And we can tag members - like @klone if there's an OB topic that we're really hoping she'll weigh in on.

I'm having trouble with the new site. I just can't get into a rhythm here now, even though I like some features better.

For instance,  go to first unread post is absolutely vital to me.

I feel the same way. I feel a bit lost. I used to go to AN about half a dozen times a day (at least). Now I've been going several days between visits. I'm sure it will come in time.

@caliotter3 with the old site, after my annual membership expired and I didn't renew, I noticed that my signature line never went away. Maybe that's why there are some "non-dues paying" members who have a signature line.

I think the "old" site had an "easier to use" or at least "easier to access" a "what's new" feature so that we could easily see what threads had changed since we'd last visited. Like others here, I'm still learning how to use this new forum, tailor the "stream" view, and so on.

I'm also not visiting this site as often as I used to (several times per day back then), I think partly because the "outage" caused by this switch basically forced us off for a while. I suspect once I've figured out how to use this site and just see the threads that have changed since my last visit instead of seeing new individual posts, my visits will return to pre-switch levels.

I'm also a little sad that the "likes" from the old system wasn't able to be carried over. If it had been carried over, it might have overwhelmed the system for a little while as suddenly thousands of users would have had to be ranked and displayed. The newer system of who's getting "liked" frequently each week vs total "likes" may eventually encourage more frequent postings. Here's to hoping all goes well!

Edited to add: I think there IS a way to recreate something similar to what we were used to seeing and I think I stumbled onto it... you have to create a personalized stream. It appears you have to select "Content Items Only" in the "Show me", "Take me to the First Unread Item" in "Clicking Unread Items", and "Since Last Visit" or "Specified Number of Days" in "Time Period" and you should get something similar to what you were used to... I'm using this to see all the threads that have changed since my last visit. Until I'd figured this out, I saw all the content that had posted and was "unread." It was a little irritating.

Still playing with settings... so far, it's very flexible and configurable. Steep learning curve for people not used to this...

The whole idea kind of reminds me of today's youth (and olders) who actually care about being "friended" or "unfriended" on FaceBook, and give the concept much more power over themselves than it should have.

Losing (NOT loosing) likes is a good way to deprogram from the Pavlovian reinforcer of what essentially amounts to...not much.

@akulahawkRN I'm glad you are exploring the site and finding new features that will make your experience more enjoyable.  I know this is frustrating.  Think of it like buying a new car.  We know we want a new car.  We love all the new features, but now to figure out how to use them.  But once we get more comfortable in remembering where the various buttons are and can use them without even thinking, our new ride is much more enjoyable and you wondered what you ever did without the luxury of heated/cooling seats.

@tnbutterfly Thanks! There's still a lot to learn about all the new bells & whistles with this update. I'm not saying that I don't like it, far from it! It's just that it's going to take a little while to figure out how to use them all...

I think given time, I'm with you... we'll wonder how we got by without all these features!

I went to my 'manage followed content' section,  which seems to be the same as my bookmarks of old.  The threads will be bolded if there are new posts,  but no arrow link to first unread post.
