I found some older versions of TCN study guides on ebay (2006). Does anyone think they would still be current as to the content required?? Thanks for any input
It looks like I got nursing concepts 1-6, micro and develop psych, for a really good deal. I am also reading thru the books, but looking for something to help with one source, like the binders, just a system that works for me.. I def will NOT purch the current guides at the prices direct, I can't afford it, nor do I think it is necessary! Thank you, K

Don't buy them. Excelsior updated the exams in 2007 and no longer uses the concept exams. Those concept 1-6 guides are VERY out of date.

The basic material does not change much throughout the years. The trick is getting better versions of any kind of study guides. For example, it would be good to have a sg that gave pertinent info on gout if the subject of gout is covered on a particular exam. You really don't have any way of knowing this ahead of the exam, unless you are in contact with someone who has tested and remembers test content. Your best study resource for all the exams are the practice exams.

With all due respect, I didn't find that to be true at all.
I purchased the old ones, and for the most part, they were verbatim with the new material.

it was a little more than renaming -- they added a few sections and moved some things around. here's a quick summary:
essentials of nursing care: health safety = nc1
essentials of nursing care: health differences = nc2
essentials of nursing care: chronicity = nc3 + functional assessment (new) + end of life care (new)
essentials of nursing care: reproductive health = nc3 + congenital anomalies (was in nc4)
health differences across the life span 1 = nc4 (minus congenital anomalies)
health differences across the life span 2 = nc5 + cognitive assessment (new)
health differences across the life span 3 = nc6
transition to the registered professional nurse = nc7/foundations of professional practice
there are a few things that i might be missing or can't remember, but that's it in a nutshell. :)
Thank you very much for your input, I really do appreciate! I agree the practice exams are great! I think I may go for it, just to get myself started on the studying. I wouldn't bother if they were expensive... I really want a more condensed study guide to get myself going. There is so much fluff in the chapters, it is taking forever. If I can find a more recent version, I will be sure to jump on that one instead. Thanks, looking forward to working towards my RN! This board is a great support. K

so is reproductive a relatively new course? I have an old college network chronicity book and it has quite a big section of reproductive health and sexuality. so that is no longer a part of nursing 3 right?
