Old Diploma Nurse need of help

Published

Hello!

My name is Lisa Cantwell and I am a proud, diploma graduate from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. When it closed in 1992, it was the oldest diploma nursing school in the country, located in Worcester, MA. I am so glad that I experienced the old integrity of nursing within the new medical world. Through my fabulous education, I became a CRRN, CCRN, CEN and flew as a flight nurse. My old problem about moving forward (because these days ya need the "other" letters after ya name), is that I cannot find my nursing transcripts. Someone told me it was at the vocational school in Worcester, MA but when I call them, everyone is clueless. They must be somewhere!! Anyone? Suggestions?

Thanks a bunch and rock it out,

Lisa/Boston :nurse:

educational records are legal documents and therefore must be stored somewhere.

the ma bon website only lists information for records of defunct lpn programs. those seeking records for closed ma rn schools are adivsed to telephone: 617-973-0800 for now.

according to the bankruptcy papers filed, the university of massachusetts medical school and hospital took over operation of the campus. however after a split in 1988, umass memorial healthcare now has control over the site.

your school seems to have a very active alumni group. you might try contacting the head of the association for more information on hospital records.

as of 2002, this was the latest information along those lines:

however, i managed to track down the president of the alumni

association.

transcripts for graduates of worcester city hospital school of nursing are stored at the worcester technical high school, guidance department, 1 skyline drive, worcester, ma 01605. it is important that you connect with someone in the guidance department and make it clear that you are requesting transcripts for the worcester city hospital school of nursing, not the former david hale fanning school of practical nursing (now located at qcc). from time to time graduates do have trouble with personel at the school who misunderstand the request.

per the information in the worcester city hospital school of nursing alumni newsletter, school transcripts can be obtained by mailing your request to:
