OU nursing Acceptance

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hi! Does anyone know when they will send out the acceptance letters for the OU traditional nursing program? The woman that I spoke with at OU had said thatshe thought it was March, but was not sure. I just wonderedif anyone else had any information. Thanks!!

Hey everyone! I don't know about anyone else but I finally received my letter today from OU and I did not get in. I was a little surprised because OU told me that I had great chances. I have a 4.0 science gpa and about a 3.85 overall GPA, plus I have made all A's in my prereqs. I guess OU just tells you what you want to hear. I am an alternate but I have no idea how far down the list I am.

Honeydawn75,

You should get yours soon because I got mine in the mail today and I live in OKC.

I can't believe you did not get in with your GPA. I guess I probably will not either. There were a lot of classes that I was missing.

I was missing 3 classes, but of the 3, I am currently enrolled in 2 of them. I have heard that they give preference to those that have taken some of their Pre-reqs at OU but I am not sure of that. There is no telling how they do selections. They probably do not base it solely on GPA or I would have thought that I would have had a better chance of getting in. Well, I hope that you can get in! Good luck to you!! Hopefully you will get your letter tomorrow, if not I would call OU.

Well, I didn't get in either. I received the letter today. I have been really upset about it.:crying2: But I believe that one door closes and another one opens. I am looking into the 1+1 program at osu-okc. Goodluck to you all!

What is the 1+1 program, Jewls67??

Beth001, I too am shocked that you did not get in. :omy: Were you missing several prereqs?? I got into the accelerated program and my gpa is nowhere as good as yours, although I am sure the traditional program may be more competitive. Well, I bet that you do get called as an alternate. I did not get in at first to the tranditional program and was told that I was an alternate, but three weeks later they called me and offered me a spot. Do not lose hope because I think you will still make it in. I know how it feels though because I was devastated to get the denial.

It is designed for you to go to a votech(francis tuttle votech, moorenorman vo-tech) at first. Which you will get your lpn after the first year there. Then after you get licensed as an lpn you will then be guaranteed a spot in one of the rn nursing programs which will be the third semester at either one of the nursing programs at osu-okc, occc, rose state. I might be going ahead and looking into it. Are you looking into something like this too? I hope this helps..

Since I did not get into the traditional track I was thinking about applying for a LPN program and then possibly doing the LPN-BSN. I am interested in the 1 + 1. Do you have to apply for it at a technology center or community college and when do you apply? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

That is what I am trying to figure out too:)... Here is the website info at francis tuttle votech center. http://www.francistuttle.com/classes/ctp/pn/app_packet.pdf

This is really all I know of as far as information on the program. When you click on this website. Look for the 1+1 progam. I think it is on page 23?

I am thinking you would have to apply at the community college's first ( osu-okc, occc, rose state) then they will refer you to a votech center.. But I am not for sure on this.. I hope this helps. Good luck

Hey thanks for the info! I wonder if doing the 1 + 1 will help your chances of getting into an LPN program at a tech school. I bet they are pretty competitive also. I will look into this and if I find out any additional info I will let you know!

Which three classes were you missing Beth?
