Oklahoma City New Grad Nurses

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hello!

I have been told starting pay for new grads is 18-19/hr for Mercy, Integris, St. Anthonys, etc, and about $20/hr for OU. Does anyone know the shift diffs for these hospitals? I am planning on working nights and weekends when first starting out to earn some extra starting $$$.

Thanks!

St. Anthony's starting pay rate was $18.93 per hour back in 2009, so I would be surprised if it has not gone up in four years time.

OU Medical Center was starting new grads at $18.65 hourly back in 2009 and I heard the new rate for 2013 is just under $20 per hour. Shift diff for nights has always been a couple of dollars hourly ($1.75 to $2.50).

Out of all the hospitals in the OKC area, Kindred Hospital pays the most. Your pay will definitely exceed $20+ and the differentials will be high.

OKC hospitals are around 19 and some change. The children's center pays a little more and kindred I believe is the highest paying.

Tulsa new grad pay is $22/hr before differentials. Anything less is pathetic

It's so weird how Tulsa pay is better when the cost of living in OKC is higher. I work in Tulsa but my friends in OKC are paying minimum 200 more in rent. Not cool

Can y'all confirm that it's true $22/hr is new grad starting pay before differentials in Tulsa? I live in Muskogee but once I'm done with nursing school, I plan to relocate to Tulsa and try to get an ICU job.

I am in a large hospital in Tulsa. My pay is 20.70 base but on nights I'm 24.70 with differentials. But I have friends who make more bc they did their externships and the Tulsa hospitals they work at

Thanks for that information. Could you comment on how difficult it would be to get an ICU job in the Tulsa area after graduation without having a connection with the hospitals? I see several ICU job postings on Hillcrest's website and by "Experience:" it just says "Entry level", so that leads me to think Tulsa hospitals aren't as competitive as other parts of the country I've been reading about as far as getting experience before being hired on in an ICU.

It may take awhile without connections. I would contact the nurse recruiters if I were you

I don't know many ppl in my orientation that had icu jobs here that weren't aides or didn't do clinicals here. But def contact nurse recruiters
