I am going to need a job once my husband comes back from Iraq. Im currently attending LPN school and will need some extra income to finish so I figured I would try to get my CNA license which I was told I could apply for in Feb. I have looked all on the web for info on obtaining the CNA license but have had no luck. Anyone know what obtaining this license consists of and how to go about obtaining it?

it may vary in your state-here in Pa you have to take a 6 to 8 week course and pass an exam. Many local nursing homes and some hospitals here offer on the job training....Try calling some facilities in your area to inquire.....Check with your local vocational technical school also...

Here in Iowa you can actually challange the boards (No need to sit in class or clinical) If you are in school for LPN then I'm sure you would do fine challanging the boards. Our local CC offers state testing every Tues and Thur for $100 (last year, don't know about this year). Also if you work for a Nursing Home they will pay for everything including the class if you decide to take it, but it must be done within 3 months of hire. If I were you, I would check with your local CC, they should offer the CNA course as a continuing education credit, if not then check with your local hospital, they may have info on where you can find a state testing location.

Good Luck!!

After you have completed the required portion of the LPN training you should be able to take the CNA tests at any of the Career Tech Centers in Okla. Contact the nearest Tech Center and see if it available. Where are you doing the LPN training?

Ask your instructors about it. I am in nursing school and after we finished Fundamentals we were classified as cnas. Our director gave us forms to fill out where we did not have to take a test or pay for the license. After this semestesr we get to be cna 2s.

I am taking the LPN class at great plains votech in lawton. we have 3 weeks left of the junior semester. i cant believe its more than half over our senior semester is only five months unlike our junior which was 6 months.
