I just sent in my SIXTH application for next year LOL !!!! And I have FOUR back-ups on my -To-apply to list that I am going to send out in the fall if I don't get in at my preferences! Maybe over kill maybe not :) I just can't take the idea of not getting in next year and then waiting another year. I can't do it! I must get in somewhere NOW! :) Wish me luck! :yeah: I've applied to both ADN and BSN programs. I really want to get in at my current school (a BSN) but it is the most competitive in the state so I am taking no chances. How many schools did you apply to or plan to apply to?

I applied to one school one time at my first available opportunity and found out today that I got in! GO ME!!

Good luck!! You must be somewhere along the West Coast. I don't think applying to 10 schools is considered a lot on that side of the country...

Actually I am in Georgia LOL! I just don't want to take any chances. Almost every school here you have to apply to 1 year in advance so if I don't get in I don't want to wait a year to apply to my back-ups :)

I think you are doing things in a smart and well prepared manner. Good for you. You'll have to let us know if you get in!

Just make sure you have a plan if you don't get in. I hate to say that but it comes with the territory.

Do any of the schools use a lottery system? Because I think that is total garbage, and basically unfair.

No, they are all based on GPA and entrance exams. I do have a back-up plan if needed. I have an Associate in education. My back-up is to go into a BS in education.

Haha! I know the feeling! I applied to my local community college ADN program and was on the waiting list for TWO YEARS! In the meantime, I decided to hedge my bets and apply at the school of nursing affiliated with the hospital where I work. After only 7 months, they had a spot open up, and the best part is my employer (the hospital) pays for tuition...woohoo! So, my 2nd choice quickly became my 1st choice. Good luck to you!

That's awesome! Good for you! The one benefit to the ADN program is I can start working sooner and maybe get my employer to pay for my BSN classes. I have a scholarship that runs out at 120 credit hours and I am currently around 90 so I'll run out a semester or two before I graduate if I do the BSN program. I'd rather just go straight through with the BSN though and take a loan but I'll go wherever I get in LOL!

Hi!

I'm applying to somewhere around 15 schools. I had MANY MORE to apply to on my list, but realized I'd be spending like $1000 just in application and official transcript fees. However, I am on the west coast (California), so here it's pretty typical to apply to several schools considering the fierce competition.

I did apply to two schools for this fall 09 semester just for fun. Didn't expect to get in to either of them as my GPA isn't competitive enough for fall entry. Like I thought, I didn't get in to the first school I applied to, but I DID get on the waitlist for a private school which is actually my #1 choice for nursing schools!! Keeping my fingers crossed for that!!

Goodluck to you in your application process. I have a feeling I'll be right along with you there.

I don't think that's a bad thing. I only applied to four nursing programs and two were schools I really didn't want to go to so technically I only applied to two. Thankfully I got into one but after I had, I sat down and thought "what was I thinking!". There were so many more programs in the city that I could have applied to and I didn't. It might have possibly been because I started my college apps late. I did them in Feb for that upcoming August! >_
