Hoping for feedback from current OHSU DNP-CNM students and recent grads! (Though more distant grad insight would certainly be welcome also!) I am applying to the ABSN and DNP-CNM programs and have my interview this coming week. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the experience and strength of the following focal areas of OHSU's program:
1. Abortion care training (aspiration and medication) - I know all students are trained in medication abortion from a didactic perspective. Is there education and clinical training available in aspiration abortion? Are faculty generally supportive of midwifery students' interest in learning abortion care?
2. Sonography - Is this training included for everyone? Is intensive sonography training available for interested students?
3. Newborn care - Was didactic and clinical training comprehensive? Upon graduation, did you feel fully prepared to provide care for a newborn (first 28 days)?
4. First assist - Is first assist training available to students who plan to work in a hospital setting after graduation? Are faculty encouraging of students interested in this training?
Last but certainly not least, I would LOVE and appreciate any other thoughts and insights anyone has about interviews, the program, moving to Portland (from CA in my case) and the experience of parent-students!
Thanks in advance!
