Has anyone completed or is anyone currently enrolled in Ohio University's MSN-to-DNP Nurse Executive/Nurse Leader (NE/NL) program?

I am considering the program and would love honest feedback from current students or graduates.

Specifically, I am interested in:

• Overall satisfaction with the program

• Faculty support and responsiveness

• Workload and time commitment while working full-time

• Statistics and research courses (were they manageable?)

• DNP practicum and immersion experiences

• Support with the DNP project

• Organization and communication from the university

• Whether you would choose Ohio University again

A little about me: I have an MSN in Nursing Leadership, work remotely in quality/audit, and am considering this program versus Arkansas State University's DNP-Education program.

I am starting Ohio University's RN to BSN program in February. I know that I should expect to write a lot of papers for this program. What are the professors looking for exactly? What's the average length of the papers and the discussion posts? I am very nervous about starting due to not being a very good writer.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

So I wanted to see some of the topics others have used in the past or have thought of. Some of the ones I was thinking was bedside report, implementation of electronic health records, medication scanning. I can't really think of anymore.

This project has me beyond stumped

I am currently a resident of Los Angeles County, California. Ohio University requires California licensed RN residing in California to take online Public Health Nursing Clinical which includes 90 clinical hours with a BSN prepared nurse. I contacted Los Angeles Department of Health Services regarding a request to establish an affiliation agreement with them. They responded by saying that they have affiliation agreements with 10 local universities, and only accept nursing students from them for their Community/Public Health Nursing practicum. I have also emailed five other counties, and expecting an email from them some time next week.

I am wondering how other students that live and practice in California fulfilled this requirement of the program and the process they went through. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me what a typical week looks like?  I know these are a serious of 5 week classes, but what is the typical work load?  I believe I understand that it's mostly papers and discussion board posts, are there any exams?

I am a prospect of the program and I just want to ask the alumni of the NP program of Ohio University couple of things

1) what was the online program like? ( meaning how does your schedule look like during the first year and the second (clinical year)? How much time is needed every week to study for each courses? Was it mostly writing or exams?)

2) did you feel that the program prepared you well after you graduated in terms of practicing?

3) Did you manage to find a job right away?

I'm am looking into BSN programs and came across ohio University, and am very interested. The only thing that worries me is that I'm in California, and I intend if applying for my MSN. How do I know if the masters program will accept Ohio university? Is CCNE accreditation the only thing I need to consider? Is there any reason a masters program would deny my bsn from ohio university? If anyone has insight on this I would greatly appreciate your help.

I applied to Ohio University's online family nurse practitioner program for Spring 2018. I should receive an answer sometime this month indicating whether or not I was accepted. I am worried though, because I was not selected for an interview. I guess I should not assume- but I thought that if I got an interview, it would have been a good sign, though not a guarantee for admittance. The wait is making me anxious. I thought I was a good candidate for the program (but who doesn't??). Acceptance seems really competitive, which is what I am looking for. Just hope I make it! Has anyone been recently accepted without an interview? For anyone currently in the program or those who have recently graduated, can you give me a review- good things and bad- so I know what to expect? If I'm not accepted, I plan on reapplying as long as I can find some helpful feedback from current students/alumni.
