Monday the 2nd Rets got there accredidation. I don't think you can judge the school on how many people fail their boards ( 16 out of 40) because Rets goes ahead and lets ALOT of people slide through the program that really are not passing. They give too much extra credit so these people who are failing can pass. I get A's and B's without the extra credit and attend all of my classes. I dont skip school just b/c I want to sleep in. I think that needs to be considered. I do agree with you that there is alot of chaos and staff turn over, but you only get out what you put into the program.

accredidation yes/ spellers no

missy1972, congrates on starting the program. do you know anyone who graduated from rets? what did they quote as a fee?

Melspt....Thank you. Their tuition is quite pricey, but now that I am 35 time is of the essence. $17000+ for year one and $23000+ for year two....Also, they just had their curriculum evaluated at the Sylvia Rayfield Faculty Workshop, and RETS tests are changing. The workshop found the tests were too easy, so the tests will be harder, but better for NCLEX RN passing.

Hello All, I'm new here and I'm considering going to Rets for the LPN program. I'm currently enrolled at Sinclair and waiting to see if I get into KCMA for Winter 08. However if I get into Kettering I'll have to quit my job which terrifies me! I recieved my MA from Rets back in 92 and swore I wouldn't wish this school on my worst enemy, however, I was young and immature then and totally agree with the poster that said you only get out of the program what you put into it. Even still, I am a little nervous to start Rets. I still have to take the 4 hr. test to get in. I intend to go during the Winter part-time provided I get in. I truly do not mean to offend anyone by asking this who is currently attending, but is it a good idea to go to Rets? Have things improved there? I find myself constantly going back and fourth. I have no clue what to do. I'm so lost. Thanks for your help!

The answer entirely depends on whom you ask. In some way, you answered part of your own question; success in any school depends on YOU. I am a recent graduate of RETS rn program, waiting to take my boards. Things are changing and I think it will get a lot better. NLN accreditation helps a lot with clinical sites and I know the students that follow me will have it much better for that reason alone. Myself, I really loved all my instructors, but I do think some changes in the curriculum are needed. The rn program is only a year old so it wasn't surprising that there is still a huge learning curve. As to working, I don't know what your schedule is, just know that working and going to school will be a challenge, but it can be done. I worked every weekend for 15 months. Good luck with whatever decision you make! ;)

I am about to finish my 2nd week. I love it:)

I know that it is going to get much more difficult, but the instructors are great. They have made lots of changes from what I hear and read on here from past students. Good luck in whichever you choose. PM me if you have any other questions.

I just want to finish this school thing with Rets, it is so frustrating! I am in the last semester for my RN, last week students showed up for clinicals at 8a, waited til 845, called the instructer and she said I no longer work at rets! This happens frequently! Most of the instructors are really bad. (a few good ones) I don't feel like I am being taught the things I need to pass my boards at all and I grad. in 13 weeks! I feel like they are just stealing my money and sitting back laughing about it. People ask me where I go to school at and I am half embarassed to tell them! If I weren't such an honest person I would lie and say KCMA or Write State or something! I just feel like I am paying for a service and I am not recieving it. And the CHEATING at rets is sooooooo rediculous! I dont want a nurse that cheated her way through nursing school if I ever become sick and other pts dont deserve that either. Sorry for venting & miss spelled words.

just out of curiousity, how in the world do people cheat? Not that I would dare....but in our classses they make us put our bookbags at the front of the class, no drinks on the table, nothing on the table, and we even have to use their pencils, don't like being treated like a kindergartener (sp). But figure there must be some reason they are takin those precautions, this is my 2 week of 2nd term and I am now seeing the disorganization big time. but it wasn't like that our first term. But yes, I have noticed a few teachers gone too.

Wow! Now I'm really nervous about going there. This is the same problem I had when I attended back in 92. I never did anything with my MA certification because I felt like I didn't have a clue what I was doing when I got out. I interviewed at a Podiatrist's office right after school and left the interview in tears. He ripped me apart with questions I didn't know the answers to, and I'm not a dumb individual. I felt like I wasn't capable to do the job so I just gave up. I'd love to hear more about the cheating and stuff that your referring to if you don't mind PM me. Thanks!

Well the cheating is very obvious, when they are finished you see them push their paper right over next to their friend so they can compare answers. I never thought nursing students would be so dishonest! I know not everyone does it but there are several that do. Maybe they do just b/c Rets is a flop and they can get away with it. I am so glad that I didn't go to rets of my LPN b.c that is what carries me! I have not had to critically think since I have been there! If you have plenty of money to give away sure then go to rets but if you don't u better invest in a different school. The thing is Rets gets so many students b/c of the waiting lists everywhere else, you can start and finish rets before you would be able to start a nursing program else where. I wanted to go to rets because I would be done with school sooner, but the reprocusions I have had to come across are not worth it at all. Yeah I was like mistydave in the begining and proud of my school but now its a whole new story. I just pray that I pass my boards the first time around with the min of questions like i did with my LPN boards.

thankyou for sharing. I had not noticed that, but I sit near the front of the class, and don't really pay attention much of what is going on around me when I am busy with my test. cheating really bothers me. but thankyou for sharing.

RETS really needs to start enforcing their academic integrity policy, cheaters will not help their reputation.

Oh! And don't forget how they just let ppl slide by who should have never made it pass 1st term
