Here it is. Welcome Mary, Walla and all classmates for the graduating class of 2008!:balloons:

Mary this is a great idea! How did your dad get all that information, I had the same luck as Walla.

"My Dad obtained a copy of the Schedule of classes for 2006-2007. There is an orientation on Wed. Aug. 16, 2006, and classes start Monday, Aug. 21, 2006. Finals are Dec.11-15th. Students must have lliability insurance and all Heath requirements (which I take to mean that you are updated on all of your shots). The contact person to get the schedule is Deb Pasch, secretary at 419-383-5858. I assume the sclass schedules and any financial aid packages will come out by the end of June, 2006, as you have until June 1 to accept a position for the Fall 2006 program.

I am thinking that we should start another thread posting. But I am not sure of what the heading will be so that other nursing students doing a search will be able to access the new thread. Should it be 2006 Gemini class at MUO, or something similiar.

I also received a list of four apartment complexes to contact for housing. I have two cats so I am considering a 1 BR unless I can find a room mate who tolerates cats. Obviously, I would pay the extra monthly cost for the cats. Mary C."

They haven't even sent the official notices out yet according to Mr. Hampton.

How can we accept by June 1st, what hasn't really been offered except by phone unofficially?

Please note that I did receive a letter dated May 2, 2006 from Dean Keith K. Schlnder, College of Graduate Studies indicating that I had been accepted for regular full-time admission to the MSN/GEMINI Program. The letter went on to indicate that I needed to sign and return the confirmation letter of acceptance. I mailed it in and my dad faxed it in as well on May 8, 2006, about 2 days after I received the letter.

I believe more than the original 24 students were accepted due to the impression that the interviewees made. I think but do not know that it is between 32-40. I do have a copy of the course schedule that my dad, an attorney, was able to get faxed to him by a secretary in the office. There is a column for the number of students in each section of a class. For instance, ther is a 10 week lab, sections 1B and 1C, each of which have 16 students. A third section could add another 16 students. Nov 6 thru Dec. 26, students rotte thru 4 clinicals in MUO, pediatrics, women's health and Geriatics, each of which has 8 students in each clinic.

There is an orientation on Wed. Aug. 16, 2006 and classes start on Modnay, Aug. 21, 2006. To look for apartments there, go to www.commuter.utoledo.edu . Some of the suggested but not necessarily recommended apts. are Hunters Rige Apts., Deerfield Run Apts., Briar Cliff Woods, Cambridge Woods, Heath Briar, and Heathergate Park apartment complexes.

I am torn because I graduated from Bowling Green State University, about 26 miles away, and would like to live closer to there. But, I know I will have late nights and driving in winter makes me want to live closer to MUO. ALso,I have two cats that my parents want me to take with me to school, and the last 4 apts. above take cats for an additional $ 20 per month. Should I get a roomate to save money or not???? A 1 BR is about $ 480 while a 2 BR is $ 580 at Cambridge Woods and that includes all utilites except for a small electric bill and phone and cable. What to do???

Finally, I am hoping to get a phone replacement in July, 2006 but I don't know whether to get one that will be a PDA as well or buy one separate. A different formum recommends a PDA like a Palm Tungsten because of the medical software that it will hold. An instructor asked how to clear a tube, which no one knew how to do. A student nurse had a PDA with the medical software on it, and it ran her thru the procedure so she could do it. Helps you refresh your memory for all of the things we need to memorize.

I got a call from Dr. Hampton and an email from Dr. Garrison on the 10th of April telling me I was accepted, to be followed by a letter in two week, which never came. Two weeks ago I emailed them about this and they said it was coming, be patient.

Nothing yet- I wonder why? Maybe they misspoke about my acceptance. No matter what, this doesn't sound good.

Mary, did you graduate from BGSU with a BSN? Since you live close to Toledo, have you checked out the apartments next to MUO? Do you think

they (MUO) could send out an email giving the URL to this thread and invite

everyone to join us here? What day did you interview? I interviewed on the 5th and was very impressed with all the candidates.

Hope to see more here.

I interviewed April 5, as well. I did receive a letter about a month ago requesting my response as to whether I was accepting the program. I replied that I was and that's the last I've heard. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of communication on the GEMINI program's part.

"a little disapponted" is putting it mildly! Maybe, I'm too strict about wanting all my duck in a row, but when you consider that classes start in about 2 1/2 months and some people have to find a places to live, move in, sign-up utilities, get to know the campus, the different hospitals, work out fin. aid details, etc., etc.! It makes one wonder.:(

Mary, did you receive a call or is the letter your only reply from MUO CON?

Why would they send it to your father? I plan on being in Toledo in the next week or so to check out the bookstore and see some friends on campus, if your going to be there let me know and we can meet in the lobby. Same for anyone else.

Maybe together we can get this class organized:chuckle :chuckle

I'm not in the GEMINI program but I'd be careful about living too close to MUO. I graduated from BG/MCO and I have friends living near the campus on Bryne at had neighbors etc whose apartments were broken into. They also just had a murder/suicide at one apt on Arlington. I lived off of Heatherdowns which was a close drive to MUO and still a nice area. I had a cat too and had to pay a small pet fee.

Thanks BGgirl. :welcome: Yes, I did my undergrad at Bowling Green and I am actually thinking about just getting an apartment in BG. I know they're safe and I'm familiar with pet rules and regulations out there. I'm just nervous about the commute. You say Heatherdowns? What other apartments do you reccommend?

I graduated from BG and would've loved to have lived there but the commute would've killed me. I'm not a morning person and having to drive to early morning clinicals and class just wouldn't of worked for me. Of course I know lots of people who did live in BG and commuted and it worked out fine for them. But remember it is of course a college town so you'll be in an apt probably surrounded by noisy college students.

South Toledo is usually a good place to stay. I had some friends also stay off McCord which is a nice area.

Anything in Maumee is nice and close but it tends to be expensive. If your'e thinking of some places in Toledo I could tell you if they're okay or not. I think I looked at a ton of apts when I was first looking and again a few years ago when I was looking for a new place to live with a washer/dryer. I finally just descided to buy a house and be done with renting. ;)

The nice thing about where I lived in Valley Stream Village apts was that I was close to shopping, the freeway, turnpike etc. And of course you're only about 20-25 min from BG.

I have been looking at Cambridge Woods, Deerfield Run and Orchard Lakes. I haven't looked at Valley Stream Village. Someone told me to look at Country Club Apartments. What do you think of these?

What do you think of living in Maumee? You're amazing, thank you for your input!

Mary, I sent you a PM about the apts you listed. Good luck in your search.

My dad called the Director of Financial Aid at MUO, and she said the two financial counselors had just gotten the list of accepted nursing students yesterday, June 8, 2006, to process for financial aid. She said the package would go out sooner rather than later, so I took that to mean we should have them in the next two weeks, that is by June 23, 2006. you GO GIRL! , I mean MUO!!!!!
