Hello,

I am attending CSU's accelerated BSN program this coming January and was wondering if there is anyone else on here that starts at the same time or if anyone is currently in the program.

Sooo no one is currently in or will be in the upcoming CSU accelerated BSN program??

Hey! I got accepted as well and start in January like you. What was your first Bachelor's degree? I'm guessing something in Physiology? Mine was in Biology and I attended it at the same university.

Yep! Exercise Physiology actually. I love your screen name! I hope to eventually work in a neuro setting at one of the Cleveland hospitals (or somewhere out of state if I cannot find a job). Did you just graduate in 2013 as well?

Thanks, yeah Neuroscience is awesome! Lol. Nah, I graduated in 2009. I actually changed my career plans several times. I just kept changing my mind about what to do. But I only applied to graduate school once. I've been a state tested nursing assistant for 2 years. Now, I know for sure I want to go into Nursing though. I want to eventually become a Nurse Practitioner. Btw do NPs specialize in Neurology too? You mentioned you wanted to work in hopefully a neuro setting. I know for sure they specialize in Psychiatry but I haven't heard of them practicing Neuro. Also, I'm wondering if you were the guy I was talking to during my interview at CSU. You seem familiar.

Were you part of one of the last interview sessions? It's possible, I was one of 2 guys in my interview and the other guy went to CSU. I'm not sure, I want to say that they can specialize in neurology? I would like to go to grad school for either NP or NA. I hope I can get a new grad job at one of the area hospitals. If not I may look to NC or TN.

There were two guys at my interview, and one of them went to CSU for his master's I believe or it could have been for his bachelor's but I know for sure he went to CSU for one degree and that he has a master's degree. That same man was also in my Microbiology class at Tri-C when I was taking prereqs. Anyway, the three specialties I'm considering are psychiatry, nurse anesthesia and family practice. I'm interested in each of them for different reasons.

I like cardiac, neuro, anesthesia just because I think I might try NA or NP.

Why did you decide to go into Nursing instead of something like Physician Assistant school?

Because I didn't really know anything about PA until it was too late. Plus PA school is becoming even more competitive and I would have to take even more extra classes, observation time etc. I need to get a career started. Maybe down the road I will consider it. Why didn't you?

I actually was heavily considering PA school and even applied there. But it is extremely competitive. Perhaps even par as medical school, I mean with competitiveness. In certain cases or schools maybe even more competitive than medical school. Like you I want to get a career started and really enjoyed being a STNA so I'm going into nursing.

NP's are just about the same as a PA, give or take a few things. NA is a legit job as well. I originally wanted to do PT school but along with PA school it is becoming ridicuously competitive and some schools are becoming more competitive than med school, which I think is nonsense. Plus with PA school a lot of schools want at least 1,000 observation hours.
