Ohio Excelsior grads

Any Excelsior grads from Ohio willing to share where you found employment? I would love to know what facilities hire Excelsior grads in Ohio. Thanks!

I graduated from Excelsior in August, passed the NCLEX in September, and was hired into the Emergency department of one of the Cleveland Clinic's community hospitals in October. I was never asked where I went to school.

That's great to hear! I live near Columbus, OH and was told by Children's hospital, when I worked there, that I couldn't work as an RN if I went to Excelsior. Stupid if you ask me but that's why I wanted to know if Excelsior grads are easily able to find jobs. Glad you found a job easily ?

Who did you ask, HR or other nurses? I catch A LOT of criticism over this program "It's not a real nursing program you don't have clinical time" and other such comments. I love throwing at them "You know our unit director and supervisor are Excelsior graduates right?" I agree that this program is FAR from conventional and it takes a good clinical background to succeed, but I don't think you'll have a problem. Remember to highlight your previous experience when writing your resume. Good luck

Yes, I did talk to someone in HR and was told that Excelsior isn't accepted by Children's hospital in Columbus. I don't know why, guessing the lack of regular clinical experience.
