None. Zilch. Zero received an A. Makes me feel better about my B. lol
The prof is new, he's a chiro by day. It was his first sem. teaching. He really was awful, teaching-wise. Would set out to lecture and then take off onto 387 different tangents about patients he has seen/worked with/spoken to/went hunting with and that would be class. He made up all of his own tests and even told us all of the T/F would ALWAYS be true. Oh and we had quizzes where he told us "Next week's quiz will be #s 1-10 of the chapter questions" so all we had to study was those questions. And people still couldn't eek out an A. How messed up is that??
Just thought I would put that out there for people who worry or fret. It could be worse - you could have the windbag I did!

Wow...I hope you filed a complaint with your college about that teacher.
His lack of teaching skills makes me wonder just how much anyone in your class learned. Hope you don't have too much difficulty with A&P II since it sounds like your class didn't really learn much in A&P I.
Before taking any classes be sure to research the person teaching the class. Talk to other students and take a look at the reviews on ratemyprofessor. Your teacher can make a world of difference in the education you are ultimately paying for and relying on for your career in nursing.

Doesn't sound like he's teaching with the program. I had an A&P 1 teacher like that. He marched to his own drum. I did learn a lot but learned it on my own...and received a high A in the class. He pulled his tests from tests banks other than the tests for the school. The guy is a genious, just doesn't like the way the program is taught, so did it his way. He's an adjunct and admitted on the first day that most PHD's don't teach well. Huh..... ?
I'm in A&P 2 with a different professor.... She's really good but now I'm adjusting to a "different" teaching style.
Oh....of the 40 or so students who began on day one of the semester? Only about 20 even passed at all! I was one of the very few A's in the class.

Are you saying there were 40 people in your class and noone got an A? Why
didnt you get an A if he gave you the questions ahead of time?
That class sounds like my last semester Micro class. First semester teaching at
our school, 10 people were left for the final exam and I think 3 got A's. Class
was fully booked on Day 1.
Complain all you want , (WE DID) and it gets you nowhere. The Dean does not
care and wont do anything about it. They are only concerned with selling the
pre-req's and know that for every one of us that quits, there is another sucker
right behind us. You already paid for the class and they dont have to give your
money back. The enrollment for the science classes is always full , they have
more people trying to get in, than they can accomodate. In this bad economy
with so many people out of work and going back for second degrees they have
no incentive to keep their customers happy.

We had a teacher like that for A & P I. She was a nurse whom they just grabbed off the street. She would give these marathon lectures and boards and boards of notes and then, toward the end, she would say "WAIT! That's wrong" and we'd start all over... I learned the bones and thats about it in that class...

Well that really sucks, it seems to be harder to take A&P if your teacher is awful.
Of the hundred people that were in my A&PI class only 50 made it to A&P II some people just can't cut it the first time around, so you should be proud of just making it through

Omg I also have a incompetent Physiology professor! His lectures are absolutely useless.. OH and not to mention he thinks he is Dr.House.. we have case studies.. and he even says " Don't be surprised if half of you fail this class.. my tests are TOUGH" He pretty much says that in his test we need to use what we learned to figure out stuff we have NEVER heard about.
Sigh... I guess it'll be just me and the book for this class >.>
Any advice?? I'm freaking out!

Wow, you must go to my school. My microbiology class was exactly like that. Im becoming so frustrated with school. Its turning me into an angry person. The science dept at my school is so screwed up. No tutors available and they dont even know it. The teachers tell the students to get help if they need it. But from who? They dont give the answers to the homework so you dont even know if you are on the right path for a test.
Advice? OMG! I dont even know how I made it through. It was crazy, we were all trying to guess what kind of quesitons would be on the exam. If you are given essay questions, make sure you can duplicate them on a test. I went over all the homework, and even though it wasnt assigned I did the book work and checked out some of the critical thinking questions. ( see if the answers are in the back)
That's basically how we have to learn in our A & P. We have a study guide, with the answers in the back, and that's how we learn. Fill them in and study them...

i agree with some other posters have said... ap aint easy... ofcourse ppl are gonna drop..its filled with in the first two days.. in my school and thats ith theworst teachers.. off rate my professor avg easiness is 1.4 outta 5... anyhow i dont care what other ppl do i care about me.. seeing how they wont be paying my bills it aint none of my concern.. just gotta go above and beyond that motto is not new.. i had bad teachers when i took bio and chem still manged b's with a car accident and missing 1/4 of the semester.. as sucky as it may seem be happy you can take those classes given the rough times the economy has.. must mean u have priority registration.. therefore dont loose it... its your bread and butter. another poster posted ap notes with quizes and stuff. i have already looked at it.. i suggest you do the same... im taking anatomy and micro english, last pre reqs.. i expect do well in all gl.. tho
Wow good job for doing so well with horrible teachers, it's definitely not easy but possible! It's just about the amount of dedication to the class you commit. Hey what's this about the poster posted ap notes with quizzes? Where can I find that?
