I am applying to OCCC for Spring 2021. Just curious if anyone else is applying and if so, how many points do you have? My advisor told me just a few got in with 15 points for the fall semester. I am very nervous! I will be applying with 14-16 points it just depends on how I do on my placement test tomorrow.

Hi Kayleen! I applied with only 12 points. It's pretty low but I thought it would be worth a shot to apply and just see what happens. I hope your placement test went well!

Hello!  I applied for Spring 2021 with 15 points! I applied for this fall also with 15 points, but I was waitlisted at #30 and there was nothing I could do this semester to raise my points so I am just hoping for the best!

I was only able to apply with 14 points. Hopefully, the applicant pool won’t be too competitive. I wasn’t able to take my writing placement test! I don’t know how true this is but I have heard that usually the Spring application period isn’t as competitive as fall.

Hey! I applied with 19 pref. pts. I'm worried that I may have filled out the application incorrectly, though! My advisor was no help. I hope we all hear back sooner than later. I've heard the Spring program is much less competitive, but Covid may have changed things. Fingers crossed!

I have a feeling that this applicant pool could be smaller because of COVID. Also the points might not be as competitive since there weren't as many opportunities to gain points since everything shut down. Yes, fingers crossed! I am so anxious about finding out!

I applied with 16 points. I applied for the fall with 14 but was waitlisted at #55. Hopefully, the two extra points will help me get in! I've also heard that Spring is easier to get accepted into because it's a nighttime schedule and a lot of people don't like that.

I have heard that Spring is not as competitive, also! Personally, I would rather go to class at night because of my schedule with work. I think 16 is a solid number. I was disappointed I did not have time to retake my writing placement test. I missed it the first time by 2 points. Oh well, I know it hasn't even been a week yet, but I constantly am thinking about it!

Do you mind me asking what your GPA is? I also applied with 14 points. I am so nervous!!

I believe my GPA is between a 3.0 & 3.1. What’s your GPA? I am trying not to think about it, but everytime I get an email I can help but immediately check my phone.

A little off-topic...

I just looked on self-service to register for late fall and noticed that I now have two programs listed: One is AA Liberal Studies (which is what I've always had) and now there is also AAS Traditional Nursing ... does this mean something??! I certainly didn't add it. I guess it's possible my advisor changed something, but he's been kind of MIA and didn't really help me apply.

I wonder if this is automatically added for everyone that applies or if it means something. I think I'm just grasping at straws, though.

I also applied for the Spring 2021 traditional program and anxiously waiting to hear back! I applied with 15 points and 3.3 GPA. I am really hoping this applicant pool will be less competitive due to Covid keeping us from being able to obtain as many points as usual. Good luck everyone!
