Does anyone know a little about the application details? Like - how many career ladder students are accepted each year? And how many apply? And, average preference points?
I don't have many points, I am trying to get an idea of what my odds are of getting into the program in the fall.
I wish they gave more points on a sliding scale for the NET test, they only give you 3 points if you make over a 72%, but what if you do really well on it? I made a 94%, in the 99th percentile bracket, and it doesn't even matter.... same 3 points. Kinda stinks.
Any info is appreciated, thanks

I'll be applying in the next couple of weeks! When I talked to them about last years class, I was told that the pts were between 12-16 for CLP! I've been told (by the advisor there) that the whole advantage to LPN to RN is that there are plenty of seats. That's why the pts dip so much lower for CLP because they just keep accepting people. They have say 25, plus the number of seats from students who didn't pass to 3rd semester. What I was told is that there aren't a lot of CLP applicants so that is a huge advantage as well.
thanks!!! that's exactly what i wanted to know. i work full time during the week and every time i get a chance to call and ask them, they are out of the office or busy.
so..... hopefully you and i will be in the same year!! is it april? or em? LOL. well, keep in touch randomly.... pm me and let me know when you submit your app, when you hear back, etc.... i'll do the same.
(crossing my fingers)
:)
oh, good! Yeah I'm not sure yet where I'll go. I've applied to Rose, and I will to OCCC as well, and maybe a couple other's just to be sure. The only thing I'm worried about with OCCC is that I've heard their program is a little disorganized and that most of it is on your own. At Rose you join the 3rd semester RN students but at OCCC you have a whole class of just CLP students. I'm not sure that's the way I want to go, but I still haven't come close to deciding yet. But that deadline isn't until May 3rd right?
actually i think it's may 8th. but yes, around then.
i think i will do much better in a class of just clp at first.... i've been out of school for awhile and it may be a little intimidating and annoying both to be with all the young bubblies that have a 4.0 but no clue of the real nursing world yet. :) lol. anyway...... it's also nice to know that it's mostly on our own- i live in lawton so the less i spend in the city the better. thanks for all the good info!!
i hope you get into more than one, that way you can pick which one you want. how long have you been an lpn? does it matter to any of the programs?
I'm not an LPN yet! I went this route so that I could bridge straight into RN and shave about 6mo (calendar time) off the whole application process of the traditional 2yr program.
I heard from a friend last week that OCCC only has you on campus for lecture like 1x a week or less, so if you have to come from Lawton that will be awesome! I just love that there are so many options and we can still work while getting an RN. When I look at how few clinical hours the RN programs offer, I'm really glad I went this way. Right now we're at 3 clinicals/wk about to move to 4, plus I'll have my month long leadership, and at least 2x a week of working as a nurse my RN year. I think I'd feel totally lost if I'd gone the other way, because I have no background as a CNA, PCT or anything. It's going to be great to have some real experience before they turn me loose!
Well I just found out that the ELIGIBILITY letters went out yesterday, from the academic advisor........ not approval letters yet UGH!!! This process is taking forever! Anyone know how long it takes after this part, to hear from the actual NURSING program to be accepted? They keep saying end of June but dear God it can't take that long that's almost 2 months
Ahh!!!! so frustrating! I actually wound up getting into Rose, so I just decided to go with that, it's closer to me and my son is already through the wait list at their day care. The only hesitation I had about Rose was I didn't like their facility, but they have a brand new one for the fall and I got to work in their lab last month on skills check off and it's awesome!
Good luck to you! I'm sure it seems like torture waiting.
that's great for you emsmom!! at least you had the option and could pick what was best! i'm kinda stuck with occc being my only option - because they are the only school i've found in oklahoma that doesn't care how old your pre-req's are. my a&p and chem, etc, are all from around 2000-2003.
and a small update.... i got the eligibility letter, then i couldn't resist calling yesterday to find out exactly WHEN the approval letters should be expected. She said "within the week". YAY!!!!!!! So i'm sitting here with fingers crossed the rest of the week.........
good luck to you too!
