Obtaining a post-masters FNP

Hi There-

I am hoping for some advice related to obtaining FNP. I currently hold a MSN/MPH (dual degree) and have worked as a nurse in state government (public health) for ~ 5 years. Prior to that, I was a NICU nurse. It has been 8 years since I worked in a hospital setting providing direct patient care. I did take almost 2 years off from nursing as I had twins! I am not happy, satisfied in my current job. I miss patient interaction and have considered going back to direct patient care, but since I haven't done this in such a long time, I can't find anything! Our local university offers a post-masters certificate for FNP which seems very appealing to me. I find with my current graduate degree, my job choices are limited. One of my main concerns is that I have been around patients in awhile. My current job is mostly administrative, but still nursing. Will this be a hindrance to me as I move forward? Any advice is welcome!
