hello. i am going to graduate in august as an lpn :) in about 2 years when my husband graduates from school we plan on moving to the athen's area. (i just may have my rn by then) one on of his friends wife works there. (i have never met either of them yet). i have tried to see if they are hiring and for what specialty. i know i don't have a specialty yet, but i am interested in med-surg or or. i have tried to use the hospital website and their job hotline. they said they have no positions available to the public? why? if you have any insight or other places of interest, please let me know. thank you in advance.

Family lives in area and said there has been major changes in hiring policy. Have you considered other facilities?
I know nothing about the area, just that I was told it was a good place to work. We won't be moving to there for at least 2 years. I live farther north in Akron. We have friends in Hocking Hills and that is the closest I have ever come to there!!! PS I am a Boone County gal myself. West by God!!:flwrhrts:
Yeah for Boone County.
Like I said, the family that lives in the area says Obleness has laid off LPN's, not filled other open positions, and seems to have some money problems. It is a union facility. Benefits are good from what I hear but that is all I know.
I am not sure just what other facilities are in the area beside the hospital in Marietta, Ohio, Gallapolis, Ohio, and one in Ironton, Ohio. Family members have used these facilities over the years.
Whatever you decide, I am sure the move southward would be a happy one for you. Lots of people from WV and Ohio cross over for shopping and medical care. It would certainly cut down on the drive back to Boone county. LOL!
Keep us posted on what happens. BLessings.

Many hospitals are hiring from in-house first.
Are you aware of the joking title "Oh Bless Me" Hospital???
Last first person story from there was when a doc perfed the OU School of Journalism's bowel during a 'routine" procedure and no one found it until OSU...in spite of two trips to ER, calling surgeon, etc....
Now. it may be a lovely place to work...
Thanks. No I had never heard of that expression. I live in NE Ohio and will be relocating to that area in 2 years.

Go to hvch.org. Our focus is for a better place for patient's to receive care, employees to work and physician's to praciice medicine. Its a GREAT place to work!! Been there 20 years!!
