I'm curious about where Postpartum nurses float in other facilities. We are a couplet care unit and our nurses only float to NICU.

Current facility, they don't float anywhere, unless they choose to float to one of the other units of the hospital rather than being called off for low census.

At another facility I worked at, they could be floated either to antepartum or NICU, depending on the nurse's skillset and preference.

We float to NICU and labor and delivery ( either to be a newborn assessment nurse, take care of PP overflow pts, or stable antepartums).

I work in a women's and children's hospital, and we float to NICU, the high risk OB unit to care for the PP patients, GYN patients, and also to the main hospital to "sit" or tech.

I can tech but definitely wouldn't be a sitter !

Our PP nurses only float to NICU and Peds on the same floor.
