Hi all. I'm graduating nursing school in about 7 weeks and will be with a preceptor on the postpartum unit for the reminder of this semester. As an older student I'd like to jump right into to where I want to work (postpartum)
versus beginning on a tele or med surg floor like people suggest. Anyway, I was hoping to get some tips and advice on how to make the best of my learning experience and also what can I do to stand out and get noticed?
Just be open to helping, look for opportunities to practice skills, ask questions of the nurse you are with and any others you see that day. Mostly, just show up with a gracious attitude and let them know you really want to work there! I found most nurses were more open to me once they knew that was my true area of interest. Good luck!
