Nursing 2nd Trimester!!

  1. I am in my first year Nursing career and loving it. I work in a High Risk Ante/Postnatal unit. Part of our patient population is caring for women/families undergoing 2nd trimester terminations. Basically, they are wanted pregnancies but due to genetic anomalies that are not compatible with life they opt for termination.

I find it an honour to be able to help these families at such trying times. However, the majority of the team 'struggle' with the experience.

End effect is negativism and manifestations of burnout.

Does anyone work with this population regularly? What works for support amongst your team? What works for support for you? How do you cope with regular foetal losses?

Ahy shared experiences are truly appreciated.

    With warmth and sincerity,
