mag toxicity question

  1. I am taking the PBDS in november, the study list they gave us includes mag. toxicity. I need to know the signs and symptoms, what the nurse would do, what orders to anticipate, any teaching or assessments that need to be done, and the rational. More or less ....another careplan.

Are you currently working on an ante-partum, L&D or post-partum unit? If so, your policy and procedure manual should clearly spell out the s/s of mag toxicity, the emergency equipment to be kept at the bedside of ANY mag patient, frequency of assessments for a patient on mag, and what to do in the event that s/s occur. Please take the time to look up this important information.

If you are not currently working in an OB setting, you can consult any OB textbook.

Yes, your P/P manual should discuss this at length. Do take the time to familiarize yourself with it asap.
