interventions for bradycardia fht

  1. Baseline 120, 115, lowest 110, category 1 tracing...moderate to minimal variabilty with accelerations

Then for less then a 5 minute period baseline runs 105. what are some interventions I could have done? I know it was only for a 5 minute period but fhr variability did dip to the 100s no decelerations though. Had the strip continue like this with a low baseline how long can I really allow this strip to go on like this?

I know for tachycardia... As along as fht still has variability and accelerations, you can let the strip go on for awhile...perhaps give some 02 but what about in the case of low baseline?

You could have had the mom reposition left to right or vice versa. It doesn't seem like it was a deceleration. Sometimes when that has happened to me I offer the mom something sweet like apple juice, Popsicles or ginger ale to see if there is a change in variability. Neonates do go through sleep cycles. If the FHR drops below 110 and it has minimal variability for over 20 minutes that's when I begin to worry.

Technically that would be a prolonged decel. It's not a baseline change unless it's at least 10 minutes. I would do normal interventions for a decel.

It may not be a decel depending on what the previous baseline was (say 110 for example). To be a decel it has to be a decrease of 15 BPM or more and if we are calling it a pr

Honestly I'd jus get her to change positions and hydrate her (orally or IV if she has access). And watch. If the variability is good (moderate) I am less worried than if it were minimal or absent.

    (sorry for the hiccup there)

    That's what I was thinking..

Reposition, some dextrose of some kind(Popsicle or juice), maybe some O2, fluid bolus
