ok...now i am confused, yet further!
hrt is now apparently bad for long term usage, but does that mean progestin/ estrogen combined or only estrogen or only progesterone??
anybody making sense of the new study???
i can understand why supplying hormones that your body doesn't make any more synthetically would be bad, 9 no brainer there, huh?) but in order to alleviate those terrible menopausal symptoms, which is the best for short term usage??
thanks in advance---joy:kiss

I wonder if they don't have the levels down to the correct science. I wonder if they will ever be able to duplicate the younger woman's body's capability to regulate these female hormones at a steady level. See, we have yet to figure that out. That may be the key? I don't know. just guessing here. Personally, I don't want to endure the horrible hot flashes and osteo is a HUGE factor in my family. So I will want to go on HRT when I reach menopause in a few years. Hope they figure this out!

I would say to try soy or black cohosh. Remifemin is working pretty well for me.

Well.......I don't need HRT yet as my own hormones continue to do a bang up good job in keeping me hormonally happy, and allowing me to PMS as the months roll by......much to hubby's sad awareness. :chuckle :angryfire Sorry....those flames hail from my PMS moment today.
ROFL renee, can always count on YOU to make me smile! You rock!

only now they are saying that HRT can actually increase the woman's risks of heart attack, and thromboembolitic trauma...
when are they gonna take women's health more seriously???

Here is how I tried to describe the flux of things that go on, to my husband, who seems to feel as though he is walking on eggs most of the time...
You are standing in a beautiful meadow gazing at magnificently majestic mountains in the distance, not far from the sparkling sea..You are having a tremendous day lost in your thoughts and the beauty around you. All you can see are your loved ones in the distance awaiting your arrival with glee and rapture WHEN suddenly, a totally unexpected freak of nature forest fire sneaks up on and completely overwhelms you, leaving you confused, dazed, in pain and feeling as though some kind of flash flame completely enveloped you..Nothing else occurred to change either the surroundings or your destination, but there sure has been a hell of a change in your demeanor and attitude.....
Joy. When they stop doing all their studies ON MEN and patterning women's health treatments after them; That is when it will become serious. Thank God, there are physicians attempting to do this...I work with one who is specializing in women's health issues EXCLUSIVELY in the family practice arena and participating in intense women-only studies.
It will take a long time, and the learning curve is tremendous! Funny it has, since we comprised MORE than half the world population for all time! But we are heading there, slowly.
