hey all...i was just wondering how accurate you feel sonograms ar in determining sex when you are 4 months along? the reason i am wondering is because my sil is expecting her first child and her and my bil really wanted a girl (it took fil 5x's for girl, dh and i 3x's for girl) and poof they called and its a girl. i am thrilled for them but just how accurate is it? i thought i heard once that its harder to mistake a boy for a girl than a girl for a boy? i am a happy aunt no matter what, just curious what ya'll think on this... :redpinkhe :yelclap:

What happened to waiting till they are born.

Yes...but that way nobody will know what colour to paint the nursery ! :chuckle

I had a sono and was told that it was a girl. We were really surprised because my mother in law had 3 boys before a girl. Well guess what at delivery I had a healthy 8 lb 8 oz baby BOY!Tracy

Whether or not you're going to have a boy or girl has absolutely nothing to do with heridity. It's a matter of which sperm gets to the egg first !!!

I think they can be accurate, but it could also depend on the tech.

My SIL had to get a cervical cerclage at 16 weeks because she was dialating. Before the surg they did a sono, they could tell that it was a boy (and it was) and that they feet had fallen into the cervix (they had and the doctor had to push him back in)

At/before/during the US, the tech should ask if you want to know the sex of the baby. If s/he doesn't, and you DON'T want to know, MAKE THAT ABUNDANTLY CLEAR AT THE START OF THE EXAM. The techs I've worked with always asked the parent if she wanted to know, and respected her wishes either way.

Also inform your GYN and office nurses so no one, if s/he knows, will blab to you.

Hi. I had my first ultrasound done at 16 weeks and the tech told me that it was a girl.. The tech was right b/c I had a beautiful baby girl in July.. :balloons: :balloons:
