Have you asked your staff? The questions seemed designed for perspectives from staff in that department.

In the Uk each hospital has to have a clinical governance committee that is responsible for ensuring quality care and risk management.

Here is a link to my allnurses blog which I have provided links to clinical governance and quality assurance sites in the UK

As far as your questions, I do agree with the poster above, these need to be put to the staff working within your area, as far as my answers to that

    1. In your deparment, what are some of the things that you do to ensure quality nursing care for your patients?

We have taken part in the safer patient initiative which has changed our practice in surgical care, working towards reducing infection, prevention and management of pressure sores, team briefings. We have also looked at something called the productive ward which helps to release nurses time to provide direct patient care.

    2. What is the most important thing to you in the workplace??

Making sure that the nurses are able to provide the care for the patients rather than spending time chasing other members of the multidisciplinary team. For example social workers who take 2 weeks to respond to a request for assistance

    3. What do you feel is the most challenging part in nursing??

Prioritising, in the UK resources are scarce so making sure that we can direct those resources to the most important areas.
