Dr cauterized initials on uteri

  1. His patients are O.K. with it (some, anyway), thinking that the Doc needs to 'brand' the uterus for pathology. I haven't been to any hysts, but I don't think that branding or marking a uterus is a routine proceedure. Is it?

The marking is for a reference point in order to remove the uterus safely thru the vagina. Something to do with circulation, marking arteries ect. Just another asinine thing to sue over....the uterus is being removed so who cares what the surgeon uses as a marker.
I wouldn't have a problem with it. I saw the surgeon interviewed this am, seemed like a respectful MD...even gives videos of the surgery to his pts if they want them.
