Does your ob unit provide you with scrubs?

Last year my dept took away our hospital provided scrubs in an effort to save money.

I am on a mission to get them back and I was wondering if anywhere else does this.

thanks

Our unit provides our scrubs, and also washes them for us. It's an expensive service, but I'm grateful for it! No need to buy your own...wash your own....only downside is when we are low on scrubs, then you scramble to find your size.

Do you have your own OR's to do c/s? If so you may be able to get your manager to bring em back. Our unit is in the process of purchasing new scrubs for the unit. Our manager found an article put out by the AORN that basically said wearing scrubs laundered by the hospital was one factor that decreased the incidence in post op infections since they are washed in super hot water etc. Our main OR staff already have to wear hospital scrubs.

Since any patient has the potential to head to the OR for a stat c/s the decision was a pretty easy one to make.

As of January of this year, we buy our own scrubs. At least it saves me a few minutes of not having to change my clothes when I go into work, and when my shift ends! Not to mention, my scrubs that I buy fit a lot better than the surgical scrubs they used to provide for us (No more long crotch, no more messy, wrinkled-looking, swimming in scrubs.) lol. :o)

We can wear surgical scrubs from the hospital or our own.

We are provided scrubs. And they aren't the same ones used in OR. We have special OB only scrubs so patients can tell us apart from other personnel in the hospital. For safety reasons.

I would hate to have to wash my own scrubs. YUCK!!! After some nights I would think about throwing them away instead of putting them into MY washing machine!!!

We are supplied with scrubs that are an ugly color and the whole hospital wears the same ones where scrubs are required (OB, NSY, ER, ICU) we supply our own white cover jacket (mine hangs on the coat rack except when I leave the unit because I'm always hot) we used to give them to the support person to wear during a c/s but quit that because some of them would leave the hospital and show up at the goodwill which wasn't good for security. OB & Nsy have different color name tags.

The other hospitals in the area (3 of them) all supply scubs for OB.

Our OB floor supplies them - and they let us NICU nurses come up and borrow if we get puked/peed/pooped on. :clown:

"does your unit provide you with scrubs"?

Yes it does. As it should, since we our own c-sections in our own OR.

I work on a unit where we do our own c/s. We have to wear our own scubs but can't wear them to work. You are required to change into them at work if you are a l&D RN. If you wear them in, then you have to change into surgical scrubs for the c/s (and stand the chance of a crash c/s and your coworkers being really ticked off that they have to take over). If we have to do a c/s in the main OR down stairs then you have to change into surgical scrubs even though we do not circulate when we get down there:uhoh21:. We were also quoted the "save money" theory.
