I can't even imagine. I had a 10lb 12oz baby lady partslly. Labor was fine. It was carrying around those 10 pounds that was a killer. That poor mom!

The story on our stations were saying undiagnosed diabetes in Mum and here's the best part "doctors were hoping she'd deliver lady partslly" and "opted to do a c-section".I had a 10.5lb guy and he wasn't that bad. But I had a lot of tasteless jokes when people found out I didn't have a section....

A friend of mine had an 11 lb 14 oz lady partsl delivery. Good prenatal care so don't know why he was soo big. The doctor was an older gentleman that really was pushing c/sec and she told him she really wanted to try. This "straight laced" doctor was on the floor at the end massaging her perineum as she squatted on next to the bed. Wish I could have been there:rotfl:

I've never delivered a baby lady partslly, so I just have a question for those of you who have without pain relief...
It's all so dang painful, does a 10 lb. baby really hurt all the more than a 6 lb. baby? I suppose the aftermath the next day and such might be more painful with a bigger baby but when it's actually happening isn't it all so painful that it hurts a lot either way?

When my cousin was born at 11lbs my uncle quipped that at that weight he could put a backpack on her and send her to school with the rest of the kids;)

Given that this baby appears to be under an oxyhood with a PIV in his right hand, (running D10 no doubt), I'm sure she was an uncontrolled diabetic.

Goodness...I was 10 lb 4 oz...next to this baby, I would have looked like a preemie. My sister was a little bigger, and if you saw my mom, you wouldn't believe it...model thin...she definitely had a c/sec.
God bless this mom...

Y'know... Just from what I can see of him from that picture, he doesn't have that squished-up-fat-face look that's typical to IDM'ers! 17 lbs. makes you think that she was poorly controlled with her glucoses, but maybe she was fairly controlled.
That's funny. I thought the baby had the classic, textbook look of an infant of a diabetic mother. I had figured out that he was an IDM even before the news mentioned it.
He does have the look, but the really big IDMers usually have a more squished up fat face than that. Then again, you can't really see his face. I bet he has hairy ears though!
