Oakland Community College Students 2017

Published

Hello, I am looking to start the program in Fall of 2017! I'm looking to meet students and take this journey together and share our experience

Thank you hailee22, I'm hoping to see at least one letter announcement on here today.

I called the nursing office and they said that they accepted 215 students this year.

So if the rumor is true and 220 people applied than only 5 people didn't get in! I think all of our odds should be pretty good! Lets hope for the best :)

Once we start receiving our letters (hopefully later today) I'll make a Facebook group!

Best of luck to everyone! Hopefully my mail comes before I head out to work today!

Also, I was wondering if any of you guys by chance took A&P with Dr. Aretha?

Jolene I've had va healthcare at the ann arbor va for the last 10 years and I've noticed in the last few years most of the nurses there are foreign. And I'm usually very disappointed to see that being that it's supposed to be a last resort for them to hire foreigners. They're supposed to give preference to qualified veterans and then American citizens that aren't veterans second. So I don't know why I'm mostly only seeing foreign nurses when I go there lately. And it's the same thing in their pharmacy. All the new pharmacy technicians are foreign.

Anapanc I took the accelerated ap 1 with dr aretha last summer. She was very nice and helpful, but tough and I felt lucky to get out alive. I had to study til I dropped to get a good grade in her class. Lol

ReadyToNurse, I took accelerated A&P 1 with her last summer too!! She is tough, but I think she just wants us to be prepared for nursing school. I don't know how to put it, she's tough but for a reason not because she wants to see students fail.

I also took A&P 2 with here in the Fall!

I made it home and my mail ran and there's no letter!!!!

Anapanc very true, she wasn't tough out of meaness like some professors are. I took ramy in the fall to mix things up and they were both very good. Different teaching styles, but I felt that both prepared me for the program

Oh no, very disappointing , I really hoped it will arrive today. @ studentmom10 where do you live , is it far from school ?

@Hailee22 I'm so glad you called!! Yayy, that means (I think) we're all in, at least all of us on this board!!!

@ReadyToNurse Humm my cousin works there, I heard that it's a rough place to work because there is no system or organization and, to make matters worse, it's underfunded so technology is not up to date at all. It also takes a long time to get into the hospital once an application has been placed (6 months to a year, yikes!); I'd imagine that a lot of nurses don't want to work there for these reasons, it's a broken system. But the va offers great pay and amazing benefits. I've also heard that Mott takes U of M applicants first, they usually don't have much room for anyone else but one can dream lol.

I so disappointed I live Detroit/Southfield area I called high land lakes campus and she said we can't call to inquire about letters till Monday she seem very upset!!!
