Oakland Community College Students 2017

Published

Hello, I am looking to start the program in Fall of 2017! I'm looking to meet students and take this journey together and share our experience

Yikes, I surely hope we're not required to buy everything for the next 2 years up front!!

I agree @Readytonurse!! I paying out of pocket for whole program! I can't afford that but I commucated with someone in the program and she informed me that she rented most of her books, so maybe they give that to you as an option to get your books up front but I dnt think its required well at least I hope not!!!

I can't imagine that this is true. What if they decide to change the textbook (which they do all the time) and everyone already bought the other one?? Just doesn't seem logical

Lol, I keep telling myself tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow afternoon!

@bmonica22 that's what I was thinking, but I know that my friend wouldn't randomly lie to me lol. I sent her a txt asking for clarification on it and how much it costs to buy everything outright. Maybe the nursing dept. decides to commit to x, y, and z books before the program begins each year then announces them at orientation (my best guess).

Ok so I called Highland Lakes and asked about it. The secretary told me not to start doing anything (physical, TB, background check, etc.)/ not to buy anything (books, scrubs, gear, etc.) until I get that letter and attend orientation in April. Yes, the college puts bundles together and we can buy them outright- but, she said cryptically, "you'll find out more about that during orientation."

Edit: decoding the secretary's lingo I guess the key word here would be can opposed to must. I tried to pump her for more info. on prices, etc. but got the cryptic "you'll find out more about that during orientation."

No letter for me today:no::scrying:

No letter today :mad:

I hope my letter will come today. I live 10 miles from highland lakes campus, so I'm sure the usps turnaround can't be more than a day.

Ohh, mine does not come till 3-4 . Cannot waití ½í¸’í ½í¸’

I had a counseling appointment at auburn hills today & the counselor printed my nursing info/application, because that is what she expected me to want to talk about, but it wasn't. Anywho, on the packet I noticed it said "anticipated completion: 01/09/19"

Maybe this is good news!

OMG , I guess it is safe than to say congratulations . Hope you get your letter very soon .
