NYU ABSN FAll 2021

Published

Hey, this is super duper early but I figured we could get some questions, fears, or concerns talked through until March 1, 2021, for priority or April 1, 2021, for the regular decision to NYU's ABSN 15 month program for non-nurses. Please don't be afraid, Please share stats if you are comfortable doing so. It really does help cohorts after us figure out strengths and weaknesses to be better applicants. Hey, after all, It's all about helping each other out at the end of the day, right! Don't be shy, talk about where you're from and things you may be worried about for the application process. As well as other schools you might be applying for!

hey all. what does it mean when the checklist is gone??? I heard mix things! Wishing everyone best of luck and congratulations on everyone that got in !

Hi there, I haven't read through everyone's responses to your post but wanted to share my experience. I was accepted a month ago. I am changing careers at the age of 40. I've never worked in healthcare nor volunteered. I spent a lot of time in hospitals over a decade because of a sick parent with cancer. I have spent the last 18 years in a successful design career in nyc. I had a letter of rec from a longtime boss of 10 years, and I had a 3.3 undergrad GPA from a very good university for my first bachelor's degree. I have straight A's in all my pre-req's which were taken at a community college in NJ. It is really hard to say how they weigh everything about a candidate. Maybe some weight is on the undergrad college you went to, plus the GPA. I see people saying portage classes are easy, whereas I found all my prereq's to be extremely challenging at a community college, maybe they weigh those things. And its really hard to say one person had a better or stronger personal statement or letter of rec too. I think we all come from very different walks of life, and hopefully your personal statement reflects who you are, and why you want to be in the program, in a genuine way. I wish you the best!

Hey there and thanks for replying! I just want to say that I appreciate you sharing your experience. I think it's fantastic that we all come from different backgrounds and will be able to learn from each other while striving to be the best nurses we can be. I can also relate with having an almost 3.3 GPA but from a very small university and having little healthcare experience. This is why I admire NYU's ability to take a chance on applicants like us because of our genuine passion for the field. Fortunately, I was accepted, and am so looking forward to meeting all of you who have been/will be admitted. Congratulations again!

Hi,

Does anyone know when they started sending out rejections for this cycle last year? Just trying to figure out where we might be in the decisions process because I want to know if I need to apply to other schools.

Hi,

Its hard to say, and I can very much relate. A few posts above someone mentioned her friend applying and being rejected around the last week of March early April. However I read through page after page of last cohorts forum and no one mentioned rejections until June 1st. So I guess as I mentioned before its just hard to track because its hard for people to accept a rejection and be able to post it. I did learn from last years forum that Mid May was when more than 10 acceptances went out in one day.

So, last yesr it went kind of like this (and this is solely based on the forum).
May 1st acceptances

May 11th acceptances

May 12th an acceptance ( I think what happened here was that this applicants probably received the acceptance on the 8th and didn’t realize until these days)

May 18th a bunch of acceptances

May 29th acceptances

June 1st rejections and acceptances

June 5th an acceptance

Most of these dates are Friday’s and a couple of Mondays, but their pattern last year was Friday’s

Hello all. So I was just roaming around (I didn’t get accepted or denied yet) but I was wondering if anyone can see in there NYU CLASSES that there is a profile set up with a NYU email ??? Is this good news? Bad news? I can’t tell! Please respond !

I'm in the same boat as you. I can go on NYU classes and also see a NYU email was set up but I don't think this means much unfortunately. When I click around the site such as on "NYU Connect", it says I do not have an account with NYU connect.

Same. But I don’t wanna get my hopes up

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. ? sadly either im not good at roaming around or its just not my case. Hopefully it is good news for you guys though!

I, apparently, also have an NYU classes login and email - @MCM85 https://newclasses.nyu.edu/ this is the link I searched for and found. I think it's what is being referred to in case you want to check. ?

Oh yes, I see I do too! Thanks @tomatotin! Its pretty much just my username for my portal @nyu.edu .. yeah, I can’t really say if it means much unfortunately.

IDK if it makes a difference but I kept looking for clues on my NYU home to see if I got accepted or not. I constantly looked at my financial aid section and for a while, all it said was no awards available or "you are not in an active program at NYU". I noticed the day I got accepted, I no longer got the "you are not in an active program at NYU" message. It turned into a button that said "Estimated Cost of Attendance". So I just assumed I got accepted because It showed me what my tuition might possibly be, which it never did before. This could mean nothing but I just thought I would share this with you guys as something to possibly look out for
