I just got a travel assignment for NYP Cornell starting April 27. I will be taking the housing stipend and commuting from New Jersey but they days I work in a row I would like to stay overnight in the city. Does anyone have suggestions or experience in what my best options would be without having to spend $200 a night on a hotel. Thanks so much in advance

You will not find ANYTHING cheap in the city unless you find a run down hostel. I finished 2 assignments at NYU in February and Manhattan is incredibly expensive, no matter how you look at it.

Why NJ? It would be easier to commute to Cornell from Brooklyn or Queens.

I live in New Jersey so I'm commuting from home

So that means your housing and M&I is taxed. I see.

Airbnb! I don't necessarily think it's the most cost effective for super long stays, but you can certainly find a room in an apartment for under $100/night.
