Can anyone let me know their experience in attending BMCC---or how hard it is to get accepted into the nursing program there?

Hi, I have been attending BMCC in NYC since Spring 2006. I am almost finished with my pre-req's, which are nursing math, english 101, A& P 1, and psychology. I think it's a great school, so far.It is covenient and inexpensive. It's $120.00 oer credit. I am a hospital union member, because I already work as a phlebotomist in the medical field. If you are a union member, BMCC has spaces for us on reserve so we don't have to compete with 200 other people trying to get into the program. Thank God! I hear all nursing programs are hard to get in. But, if you have good grades and great timing you will get in. Good luck!

Thanks for your response! When you apply for the nursing program, do you then let the department know that you are an 1199 member? or before you acutally apply.

Thanks, and good luck to you!

Sorry about the long response. I was on vacation in New Zealand. It was amazing! Triying to enjoy myself before my A&P1 class in the fall 2007. I am actually looking forward to learning how facinating the body can be. I am just about finished with my pre-clinicals. One semester prior to starting my nursing classes I have to inform Mr. Sierra (nursing advisor) at BMCC that I am an 1199 member. Then he will look into saving me a spot for the following semester. But, I have already introduced myself to him a few times to let him know I'm almost ready and how excited I am about getting into the program.;)

A vacation sounds REALLY good! LOL Thanks for writing, hum...so will you have to apply to the program after the pre-reqs are completed, or are you officially accepted and just waiting for the spot from Mr. S.

Also, are you going to do the part-time/weekend or full time day program?

Thanks for the info!

As far as know, a semester before my final pre-req I have to let Mr. Sierra know that next semester I will be ready for my clinicals. Then he is suppose to give me paperwork for my union to fill out. I am not automatically accepted.:nono: I think he evaluates all the 1199 members ready to go into the program, and pick 12 of the best 1199er's. I am interested in the part-time/weekend program. I work a full-time day job. I really want to be a nurse. I want this bad.:lol2:
