Hello All Colleagues with applications in,
Just a quick note - hopefully will be helpful to others waiting for NYBON licence: they appear to be quite jammed at the moment and said they will be able to license me later this week or the beginning of the next. That would make it 4 weeks after passing the boards. Also, I just received a letter dated 06/30 - *please furnish certification of completion from an approved provider of coursework for recognition and reporting of child abuse - without this your application is incomplete*
I had completed mine the very same day the letter was sent.
This means that today, one really needs to complete the course before getting that licence in one's sweaty little hand???

Yup. The child abuse coursework is already a requirement. This is stated in their updated version of NY licensure application form. It was just released very recently. I think 1 or 2 weeks ago.
Other changes: For non-US nursing graduates one must present a photocopy of the diploma. I'm not sure what they would require if your diploma is not yet available.
Of course, CVS is still a standard requirement.

Hello!Do you know the requirements needed in NY? I know for sure that NCLEX is one.But where can I download the forms, I don't even know what forms I need.
Aside from the NCLEX forms, what other application forms do I need to download?
Is cgfns exam also required in NY state? What is CVS?

Credentials Verification Service (CVS) for New York State. It's a service of CGFNS. Processing time is usually 4 to 8 months.
For more info, read all the pages in: https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/quickest-way-getting-things-done-licensed-us-98305.html
goodluck!
If you are not going to work in NY, then do not go that route. The CVS is only good for NY, and cannot be used for any other state. It also dies not take the place of the CES that some states require.
Im about to send my form no 1 via LBC.And it says here that I should mail my papers to the New York State Education Department. It also says that I can pay using checks or money order. Can attach my check (as my payment) at the envelope containing my form no 1?thanks!
Hi!
Careful with international cheques and money orders. I ended up paying for the application twice:devil: when NYBON did not return my bank cheque, in USD, to a bank indicated (the amount was deducted from by bank account when my bank issued a payment to an american bank)
What happened with NYBON: Just got a polite note, that they do not accept such an international cheque, please make the payment...bla bla.
A friend of mine made the payment for me in the US.
I tried to chase the first payment - but never got the refused cheque back. The one I had already paid for. Gone.

Hi Geena,
Sorry to hear about your returned cheques. How did your friend go about paying for the fees? I have relatives abroad who said they'll pay for my application. Now I know that it's possible for them to directly pay there, so that removes the hassle of sending the money here in the Phils. and sending it back to the US.
Thanks
so, did you read about the cvs requirement for NY licensure?
did you apply for cvs too?

PNB can issue a dollar demand draft for US exams purpose. the draft is in US funds. PNB has a branch in NY. the said draft can be accepted in the US.
the PNB draft can be bought in pesos unlike most other banks. non-PNB depositors can also buy the draft from PNB unlike again in other banks.
i hope this info will help.
