Thank you for replying. I am kind of embarrassed to say this but I got a C in BIO 142 as well. Should I retake BIO 142 as well along with BIO 141 and take BIO 150?

You get points for finishing BIO 142 with a C or better. So if you retake it, it won't improve your application more than it has already.

  3. Humanities elective ( https://catalog.nvcc.edu/content.php?catoid=2&navoid=95#)

Disability Services- ATI TEAS Exam Accommodations

Most students don't realize that they may be eligible to request accommodations on the ATI TEAS exam if they have a documented disability. Students should visit, https://www.nvcc.edu/disability-services/ and start the intake process prior to taking the ATI TEAS test. Accommodations take time so request them early.

Just curious what the TEAS scores were like for those who were accepted into the Spring 2020 start. Also, can we speak with someone about where our ranking came in and what we can do to boost our prospects for getting into the fall 2020 start?

Excellent, If you get an A in PSY 230 that would be top marks on two of the four areas that points are assigned for. Don't forget to also take the ATI TEAS seriously. We look forward to seeing your application.

Thank you, I'm so excited to finally finish what I started 6 years ago. Yes, I took the TEAS and got a 87.5 cum...95 reading, 84 math, 83 science and 87.5 for english!

Thank you for all your help over the past few months!

Because students are ranked on one of four factors the TEAS Scores of those accepted will have a wide range. If you have not maxed out an area that points are assigned for, it makes sense to consider that area as a weak part of your application. That might mean retaking a course if you had the minimum grade, or taking additional co-requisites or improving your ATI TEAS.

For example, a student with a

  • C in BIO 141
  • C in PSY 230
  • Maximum on the TEAS
  • Completed all co-requisite courses

might be ranked similarly to someone that

  • An A in BIO 141
  • An A in PSY 230
  • Scored the minimum TEAS Scores
  • Did not complete any co-requisite courses

As an applicant, you want to focus on improving in one or all areas.

How Students are Ranked

Grade in BIO 141

Note: If the minimum grade for entry is a "C" then no extra point is awarded for meeting the minimum.

Grade in PSY 230

Note: If the minimum grade for entry is a "C" then no extra point is awarded for meeting the minimum.

Scores on the ATI TEAS

Completion of any or all of the Co-requisite courses

CST elective, humanities elective, BIO 142 and BIO 150.

Note: It is not required that you complete the co-requisite courses prior to applying. However, if you are weak in the other areas it is not a bad idea to knock out some of the co-requisites.

Those are the four categories that students are awarded points on. our blog post, https://blogs.nvcc.edu/mecexchange/2019/02/27/am-i-a-competitive-applicant/ is updated when criteria change, so we encourage you to review it for more details.
