I have been an LPN in Michigan for 3 years now. I did long term care for a little over a year and have been a school nurse for almost 2 years while doing home care on the side to supplement my income. During my time in the facility I made $25/hr right out of school. However, it drove me crazy and I got burnout quickly. Thankful I was able to become a school nurse and leave the floor. The down side was I took a pay decrease to $18/hr when I started, now $19.50/hr but no benefits and when there is no school there is no pay. So I work only 10 months out the year and struggle the rest of the time . As of yesterday though, I was offered a position by surprise with the agency I work 2 hrs on the weekends for doing wound care. I was offered a position as a Nursing Supervisor earning $21/hr with benefits. Basically, I'm wondering if this is a good salary or should it be more?

I would post this in home care. If this were an LTC nurse supervisor, not nearly enough, but not sure of the range in home care.

As I always say.. PAY is not everything. How much do your benefits cost? Do they have a 401-k match. Are you salary or hourly? Do you have to take call? If so are you compensated for that? 21/hr seems a bit low, but cost of living in YOUR area is important to consider.

I can't believe you don't get benefits as a school nurse.. I work in a district that we do get paid all year.. I would have to agree that all money is not good money.. That's my sole reason for staying with the district.. But also do what's best for you
