whats the difference between passive and active transport
Jun 2, '09
passive transport is basically moving some molecule across a cell membrane without the use of ATP. Some example are osmosis and diffusion and facilitated diffusion (using carriers like for glucose). Active transport uses chemical energy to transport molecules across the membrane (against a conc. gradient). That's a very general answer. Hope it helps though.
