PLEASE help!! I have a paper due that has to cover the following topics. It looks like hieroglyphics to me. I need it broken down (in simple english) into my topic.

I feel so stupid!!

Here is what it should cover:

[h=3]Advocacy Plan of Action[/h][h=4]Resources[/h]

Building on your work in this unit's Health Care Reform discussion, create a plan of action for advocating a particular policy response to a selected nursing and health care concern. In your plan of action, be sure to consider:

  • Policy options.
  • Value assessment of the advocated policy response.
  • Policy goals.
  • Selection of a specific strategic approach to policy change.
  • Strategic use of the media in your advocacy effort or campaign.
  • Action steps.

[COLOR=#333333]I chose legal abortion. I am going to look at the Hyde Amendment, which is showing that abortion is not funded through Medicaid, and then focusing on how it hurts the poor (my health disparity population).

Here is what I am thinking it is:

  • Policy options. - What options do they have if Medicaid doesn't cover? (pay out of pocket?
  • Value assessment of the advocated policy response. (Stuck here)
  • Policy goals. (Goals of Hyde --- lower abortion rates/ tax dollars to abortion?)
  • Selection of a specific strategic approach to policy change. --Is this a plan to change Hyde? I don't understand what "Action plan" means. I do not believe it needs changed, but I can look into both sides and see what the other side says (that it hurts the children born/the women).

I think you are meant to either defend or attempt to overturn a heath policy, in this case the Hyde Amendment. So, if you are supportive of the Hyde amendment, what is the value assessment of your position? I am not sure if this means ethical value or monetary; hopefully you have some notes or a reference for this.

Your have your policy goals. So, if an interested party wants to overturn Hyde, how would you defend it? That would be your action plan.

Now if you wish to overturn the Hyde Amendment, everything would be reversed.
