Need Financial Assistance for School

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I was wondering if anyone knew of any hospitals that had tuition assistance programs in NY. I have to transfer to a school there for personal reasons :zzzzz but I don't think I can afford it. Any organization that gives assistance would help. I only have a year of nursing school left :scrying: .

Thanx:wink2:

What part of NY? Here in Rochester most of the hospitals give tuition reimbursement/forgiveness but its mostly for nurses who want to further their education.

Often tho, if you work for one of the hospitals for a certain amount of time (varies) you will get assistance that way. So if you work as a cna or secretary etc, you can get a tuition break. Some hospitals in my area require a committment after graduating. Some don't.

NYS department of labor has a program using there WIA funds that offers free tuition, books, and uniforms. You may want to look into that.

The New York State Department of Employment and Training will pay for school if ou qualify-but I think you have to make a commitment to working in NYS for at least a year.

You also have to meet with your case person periodically so they just review how you are doing.

95% of my nursing class was going through this last fall.

Good luck!

Yeah its a year-long committment and you have to work full time too. I am in the program as well and its a great opportunity. Faxing receipts, schedules, bills, and grades is a pain lol but well worth it.

Hello, following faith! I was just wondering, do you know any more information concerning the tuition assistance offered by the New York State Department of Employment and Training? I've tried searching for some more info online, but I'm having trouble navigating through the NY Department of Labor's website...:o

Thank you so much for your time!!

reply: maybe this will help...this lpn program is free to qualified applicants in nyc!

go to the full website at http://www.nyc.gov/html/ceo/html/home/home.shtml

in the search box type - lpn

you will pull up a window which has this link

http://www.nyc.gov/html/ceo/html/programs/nurse.shtml

the nyc ceo is offering a ladder program for lpn and then a bsn!

"the nurse career ladder program will provide scholarships for income eligible new york city residents to attend nurse training programs leading to employment at an hhc facility."
