What is your favorite nursing student STETHOSCOPE?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Hi everyone!

I'm starting Nursing School in the end of March, and would like to purchase my stethoscope asap. I've been doing some research online, but what better than here to hear of some of me peers favorites. I wouldn't mind spending some $$ on mine, since I take very good care of my things and would like to keep it for the future. Also, I'm not afraid to have a colored one :)

When you reply back, if you could provide a link to I'd really appreciate it. Take care :bowingpur

I bought a litman lightweight and several of my coworkers have the lightweight. I think it is around $70 now. I bought a litman cardiology sethescope for around $200 online and really like it. I think you have to look at what you will be using it for. I would recommend getting a midgrade well made stethescope for nursing school so you can figure out what you like (try some of your classmates or other nures). If you have hearing problems the automated ones are very nice but also very expensive.

The Littmann Lightweight II SE is a nice scope for students. A lady at a local uniform shop in my city said she won't stock that model steth because it's only good for BP's however I disagree. Plenty of my classmates use the Lightweight for bowels sounds, lung sounds, heart sounds, whatever. Personally, I own a Littmann Classic II SE, and it's a great, solid scope. I recommend either FWIW (I'm a sophomore in nursing school). I personally feel that as a student, the Lightweight is the better choice of the two - it's easier to carry around clinicals, sounds good, is comfortable to wear, and is fairly durable and less expensive. The Classic II SE is a bit more sensitive. They both are great if you're set on Littmann.
