Dansko clogs

Anyone like these? I'm thinking of purchasing a pair. Problem is.......I'd have to order online. No store close by. These are not cheap shoes and want your opinions on wear and tear, comfort, ect. before I invest. I have foot problems and they hurt a lot. I am looking for a supportive shoe that can help me make it through the 12 hrs on my feet. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I don't like the feel of tennis shoes either. Yes, I know. I'm picky. Thanks in advance. Have a great day.:paw:

Oh, wow -- a forum where I can sing praise to my Danskos!!

These shoes saved my feet, my back, my career, my sleep -- my LIFE. I used to go home w/ excruiating pain

from walking in the wrong shoes all day. Bought a simple pair off black Danskos and they immediately

corrected whatever problem I had. I can go days on my feet and all that hurts now is my LEGS, maybe, at the

end of a very long day -- but absolutely NO pain in my feet.

I just love these shoes and wear them also on my off days.

Life is too short to go through w/ aching feet!

Usually better stores that sell them will offer some sort of guarantee - just try them and walk around a bit before

you buy -- but it was the best $100 I've spent in a while!

If indeed the clogs are open at the heel without heel support these are not good shoes for anyone. Our foot has about 200 movements when walking. We walk heel to toe. If we do not have a heel support our talus(heel) and toes are not being uses properly. Our toes start to grasp in the wrong way and this can lead to damage of of lower legs. The gastronecimus the pernos muscle and the muscle in the back of the leg insert to the talus via the achilles tendon. A very large sheath of ligaments and then attached to the metatarsal pad. So if those of you who wear open heeled shoes you are doing your lower legs a diservice and are putting yourself at risk. Even Birkenstocks need to be worn with a heel support. This is what I know from working orthopedics and taking classes on foot care etc.

danskos are hand made, so every pair is going to fit just a bit differently. if you order from zappos or someplace with a good return policy, order two or three pairs at a time and keep the pair that feels right. i'm am fortunate enough to live where there are several places that sell danskos -- nordstrom, the walking company and the dankso outlet just 90 minutes away. i've been wearing dankso's since a physical therapist recommended them to me after my knee injury. another pt said they're the reason i was able to recover so quickly after my back surgery!

Really? My podiatrist was the one who recommended them!

There is most definately heel support.

My program wouldn't allow crocs, but I've never heard of Danskos being banned. Why?

Loved the Dansko Clogs when I was a lab/xray tech! Unfortunately my nursing program won't allow them! My Nike Shox are the next best thing!

Thank you all for responding. I'm at my wit's end trying to keep my feet from hurting. I did go to a podiatrist once. He stated that I had a very high arch. And that I had multiple pressure points on the soles on my feet. Those are what hurt the most. Apparently, I'm supposed to be a very athletic person with the shape of my feet. Ha!!!!!I just want to go to work and not have my feet hurting throughout the shift. Thanks again, guys. Your input has given me multitude of ideas. :smokin:

If you are athletic you might consider Ten Rolfing session. Your fascia may be so tight or twisted that your feet may need some adjustment. It really helps. It is not inexpensive but find someone who is a Certified Rolfer.

Also a very good chriopractor can adjust your feet . Your navicualar bones may be jammed up. Archers can be assited with some nice soft inserts be careful of hard inserts there is a controversy in the community hard inserts vs soft. The soft ones will allow the foot movements. Good shoes are so important.

I love my Danskos. My feet hurt no matter what shoe I wear, but I seem to have less foot pain with Dansko or Merrill shoes. I swap them out and this seems to help a little.

I've also noticed my feet hurt a little less when I wear support knee highs. I can't stand regular support hose, too hot when running around a med-surg unit all day long.

I think part of my foot pain is just from being on my feet all day.

I really dont think that your foot pain is from being on your feet all day. There must be something going with maybe the structure of your feet. There may be a mis alignment. But I worked as a nurse for 41 years and my feet did not hurt me all the time. I would check with a dr regarding your feet. You shouldnt be in discomfort all the time

Just my opinion

I have five pairs of Danskos....nope, I don't like them...I LOVE them!!

I usually wear a size 7.5-8 in other shoes so I get a size 38 in Danskos. I don't wear the clogs, however, so not sure how sizes would compare in them. I'm afraid I'd run right out of a clog :D

I HATE my Dansko's ! What size are you? I'll sell you mine cheap! I spent $100 on a pair of shoes I wore once! They caused a huge bruise on top of each foot that lasted for a week. I know a lot of people rave about them, but I thought they were the absolute WORST shoe I have ever worn!
