Best bra for nurses

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Updated:   Published

I am wondering if anyone knows the best bra to wear while working.

I wear regular bras from Victoria's Secret but they are slightly uncomfortable while moving around and walking around. The straps sometimes come off from my shoulders.

Should I wear sports bras? I like supportive and comfortable full-cover bras.

Please let me know if you know anything! Thank you.

Random internet stranger cannot answer your underwear questions.

It's like the questions we get here about the most comfortable shoes. Everyone's body is different. What's comfortable for me might not be comfortable for you, and vice versa. Trying a wide variety of bras and seeing what styles are most comfortable for you is probably your best bet.

You forgot "Should I have a baby now or later?"

I understand, but I wondered if there is any "go-to" bra brands for nurses, just like Dansko for shoes.

I am new RN in the unit and somehow feel easy to ask this kind of question to "random internet strangers" than my co-workers (because I'm shy...). I think I will look for some sports bra. Thank you!

Didn't your nursing program cover this subject?

What is happening to our educational system in America?

I'm sorry these people are being so rude to you.

Personally I like sports bras because I like to hold the girls tight to me (lol) while I'm working so I don't have to worry about straps or anything. That's just what I'm most comfortable in! I feel like too much is hanging out otherwise!

No one is being rude - just pointing out the impracticality of asking strangers for underwear advice. On the internet. Think about that.

Thank you for your kind comment and advice! Yes, I like tight one too. I am looking at some good sports bras online and hopefully will find "the one" soon. Thank you again for your time, BdgrRN!

How was I rude?

I have worked with probably upwards of 500 nurses in the past ten years and have never once discussed bra choice with any of them. No, there is not a "go-to bra" for nurses. You don't have to gravitate towards specific brands of anything just because you're a nurse. Danskos are not de rigueur, either. Wear whatever you find comfortable with your particular anatomy.

I think you should just forego the bra. Let them swing free and clear. Your (male) patients and colleagues will love you.

From a (very) dirty old man who can't believe this is a real question.
